Utilize your human services experience as you aid children with mental health difficulties and their families in the Western Massachusetts community!

Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Young Adult Peer Mentor in our IHBTC (Intensive Home Based Therapeutic Care) Program at Behavioral Health Network!

As a Young Adult Peer Mentor you will work directly with youth and young adults to ensure that their voice is heard and valued in their own treatment. The Young Adult Peer Mentor will engage youth in activities that are designed to address one or more goals on the youth's treatment plan while also demonstrating the ability to teach youth how to navigate community systems and effectively advocate for themselves. The Young Adult Peer Mentor will also transport youth to community activities and may provide respite in the home when it is relevant to advancing the treatment goals.

A qualified candidate must have navigated the behavioral health system as a youth themselves and be able to use their personal expertise to help youth in the program successfully do the same.

The Young Adult Peer Mentor will possess the necessary skills to act as an effective team member within the IHBTC program in the shared mission of helping youth and families achieve the goals they set for themselves.

The Young Adult Peer Mentor at Behavioral Health Network has the following qualities:

  • Minimum of two years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth (preferred).
  • Experience as a consumer in any child serving system(s).
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Valid Massachusetts driver's license and automobile available during working hours (required).
