Position Overview: The Wellness Consultant I consults with PacificSource employer clients to promote healthy worksite cultures, and better health outcomes with the strategic implementation of a comprehensive worksite well-being program. Annually they will evaluate the effectiveness of programs as they relate to participation and improved health of participants. Actively participate in community wellness initiatives, employee well-being, committees, events, and promotion of well-being in the community.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Consult with large employer groups in the development of a well-being strategy addressing the five dimensions of employee well-being specific to each organization, their work culture and the needs of their employees.
  • Working in partnership with our clients, their brokers, and any other internal stakeholders to assess, plan, and evaluate best practice strategies related to employee well-being. Offer programs, tools and resources from our comprehensive suite of health and well-being services and collaborate with vendors, community, and internal assets as needed to expand resources and align with an employer's needs.
  • With support from Wellness Consultant II's and III's develop goals and objectives to determine the best course of action to optimize the well-being of their employee population considering their capacity to commit and operationalize the strategy. Design annual well-being plan that brings value to each stakeholder. Provide guidance on how federal regulations impact worksite well-being programs (ACA, GINA, ADA, etc.) Support and consult with employer-based wellness committees to help steer worksite well-being activities, based on known data, best practice strategies and current resources available.
  • Identify and collect meaningful data to measure success and share results with key stakeholders. Evaluate client well-being strategy and tactics (communication plan, programs/services, engagement, etc.) to assess effectiveness throughout the year.
  • Support and consult with employer-based wellness committees to help steer worksite well-being activities, based on known data, best practice strategies and current resources available.
  • Provide administrative support to Health Promotion and Wellness Team by pulling reports, organizing fax queue and writing health content.
  • Collaborate with the Population Health team effectively integrate wellness offerings with disease management programs and other health plan added benefits into client well-being plan.
  • Participate on the PacificSource Healthy Life Wellness Committee, lead regional well-being efforts and assist in the strategy around employee health promotion programs and activities
  • Assist on marketing initiatives that require wellness expertise. This may include researching and authoring relevant well-being content for internal and external clients that aligns with best practice strategies and client needs, and goals.
  • Provide excellent customer service with both internal and external clients that includes contact via phone calls, emails, written communications, and face-to-face interactions.
  • Participate in wellness related community outreach and events. Including serving on community councils and boards where well-being expertise influences the health outcomes of the communities we serve.
  • Serve as customer service liaison between employer clients and PacificSource contracted wellness vendors. With support from wellness Consultants II and III provide guidance to employer clients around any customization to their configuration to the PacificSource online health engagement portal including customized rewards design, challenge implementation and customized content and access needs.
  • Attend 1:1 continuous improvement mentor sessions and trainings with Wellness Consultants II's and III's and Health Promotion Team Lead.


Supporting Responsibilities:
  • Interact with all PacificSource staff and departments. Work with members, group administrators, agents, and members of the healthcare community.
  • Meet department and company performance and attendance expectations.
  • Follow the PacificSource privacy policy and HIPAA laws and regulations concerning confidentiality and security of protected health information.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.


Work Experience: Minimum of one year prior wellness program experience to include two years of developing and implementing wellness initiatives required. Project planning experience preferred.

Education, Certificates, Licenses: Baccalaureate degree in Health Education, Public Health, Health Promotion or related field or licensed health care practitioner or equivalent work experience required.

Knowledge: Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively speak to large groups and present information in a clear and concise manner. Able to write health and wellness articles or content. Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels of an organization or with a variety of health concerns. Experienced with computers and high proficiency in Microsoft Office including basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Ability to use audio-visual equipment. Experience working independently, with a team, in a health and wellness related field.

Environment: Work inside in a general office setting with ergonomically configured equipment. Travel is required approximately 20%of the time.

Physical Requirements: Stoop and bend. Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time while performing core job functions. Repetitive motions to include typing, sorting and filing. Light lifting and carrying of files and business materials. Ability to read and comprehend both written and spoken English. Communicate clearly and effectively.
