Primary Duties:

Under the general direction of the Executive Director of WellCat Services, incumbent will manage the WellCat Safe Place department, prioritizing the administration and utilization of the prevention education, training, and services related to sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking with the goal of reducing these crimes in our campus community. The incumbent will address departmental, divisional, and campus-wide practices, policies, and procedures that affect individuals impacted by domestic violence, sexual violence, and stalking. The incumbent will counsel, assist, and accompany victims of sexual violence and serve as their advocate. The incumbent will also develop and provide training to students on sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking. The incumbent will be responsible for oversight and supervision of Coordinator of Advocacy Services and student employees.

MANDATORY VACCINATIONS:The CSU will require faculty, staff, and students who are accessing campus facilities to be immunized against COVID-19. This requirement will be effective at the beginning of the Fall 2021 term, or upon the full Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approval of one or more vaccines, whichever occurs later. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

KNOWLEDGE:
Incumbent must have:

  • Thorough knowledge of victim advocacy assistance and guidance.

Working knowledge of:
  • Individual counseling techniques and practices;
  • Sexual violence issues;
  • The principles of planning, management, and directing a program;
  • Organizational development and administrative, personnel, and fiscal management;
  • Sexual violence issues and law enforcement and court procedures (criminal/civil);
  • Support and reporting options for victims/survivors, including medical evidential exam protocol and criminal justice system.
General knowledge of:
  • Statistics and research methodologies;
  • Research and interview techniques;
  • Fluency in the use of standard office equipment (computers, copiers, phones, fax) and computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, and database management.

Required Education and/or Experience:

Must possess a certificate as a California Sexual Assault Counselor
AND ONE OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Be a Qualified Psychotherapist under the California Evidence Code 1010
  • Have a Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Psychology
  • Have one year of counseling experience which includes a minimum of six months rape crisis counseling.

NOTE:
Candidates without one year of counseling experience as noted above may be considered. In this case, candidates must have completed 40 hours of training in one of the areas below:
  • Law
  • Medicine
  • Societal attitudes
  • Crisis intervention and counseling techniques
  • Role playing
  • Referral services
  • Sexuality
(Supervised training will continue until the year of counseling as noted above is met.)

  • Two years supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Incumbent/applicant will need to be able to perform the essential job functions (duties) of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. This position alternates between remaining in a stationary position operating a personal computer for long periods of time and frequently moving about inside the office. Must be able to travel to other offices and buildings on and off-campus for meetings and events.

Benefit Information:

CSU, Chico offers a number of benefits to its employees (e.g., sick leave, vacation, health insurance). Eligibility for standard CSU benefits is based on an appointment of half-time or more for a period exceeding six months. Employees appointed less than half-time or less than six months are not eligible for standard CSU benefits but do receive prorated sick leave and vacation. Eligibility for Affordable Care Act (ACA) benefits is based on an appointment of at least three-quarter time, hired to work a minimum of 130 hours per month over the course of the appointment or works an average of 130 hours or more per month during the measurement period.
