The College of Liberal Arts & Sciences is searching for a Web Content Specialist who will be a part of the web team within the LAS Office of Communications and Marketing, which includes web development and design staff as well as student workers responsible for creating strong marketing websites for the college and many of its nearly 70 units. This position works closely with the college team and unit partners to support strategic priorities through creation of content strategies and copy for LAS unit websites. This person will ensure strong user experiences driven by best practices, analytics, and SEO. The Web Content Specialist will build and maintain relationships with unit website content managers across the college to ensure best outcomes.
Duties & Responsibilities


Web content strategy and development
• Working with other college team members, develop and maintain a website content strategy for College of LAS units using best practices, SEO, and analytics.
• Provide guidance to unit website content managers to help them customize this strategy for their websites.
• Conduct periodic assessments of units' website strategies and make recommendations that improve content and overall user experience while supporting marketing and communication goals.
• Create content guides and, in some cases, write copy for unit websites.
• Provide guidance to unit partners on how to most effectively use the college content management system(s).
• Provide regular reviews of site analytics to units and make suggestions for improving content.
• Monitor unit content updates to ensure dynamic, on-brand, and appropriately targeted messaging.
• Develop recommendations on new features to include in unit websites based on research and feedback from units.
• Assist web team colleagues with managing website projects, including tracking tasks and timelines.
• Collaborate with other colleges and campus offices and represent LAS in committees or meetings.
• Stay informed on current best practices for websites, especially content creation and presentation.

Digital sign management
• Work with LAS units to implement digital signage content and layouts.
• Coordinate with LAS units and Facilities & Services on new digital signage installations.
• Work with interns and others on new techniques for managing digital signage content.

Other duties as assigned to further the mission of the college

Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications, public relations, or a closely related field.
One (1) year (12 months) of professional work experience in marketing, public relations, communications, brand management, or a related professional area.
Experience with website analytics analysis and search engine optimization (SEO). Experience with managing web content through a web content management system.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working in a higher education environment. Drupal or WordPress experience. Experience with writing content and working with other types of media for websites.

Successful candidates will have the following:

Knowledge of web analytics tools such as Analytics, Tag Manager, Search Console, and Custom Search.
Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and implementing content optimizations to improve organic search.
Working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
Knowledge of 508 Accessibility standards/Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) version 2.1, level AA.
Excellent organizational skills. Ability to communicate effectively with others.
Demonstrated research and analytical skills for evaluation and measurement of web content.
Awareness of, and sensitivity to, cultural and linguistic differences. Commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Ability to work harmoniously with faculty, staff, and students from a wide variety of disciplines.
A strong desire to develop new technical knowledge and professional skills on a continual basis.
Proven ability to complete projects independently and work as a member of a team on larger projects.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate with technical professionals and understand technical requirements of web technologies.

Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5004 - Marketing Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the deadline date. The starting salary for this position is $45,000. Actual starting salary will be determined by the candidate's credentials and alignment with the position requirements.
