Job Summary

The VP, Audience & Content, will lead the strategy, tactics, and execution for radio and audio development, audience revenue, product development, and multiplatform distribution. In partnership with the SVP, Radio, this role will create and drive CMG Radio's future vision, content development, and distribution. The VP, Audience & Content will ensure the strategic execution of our top-rated radio brands remains a priority, while designing a strategy to transform for the future. This role's key goals are audience growth (across all platforms), content innovation, distribution strategy, and leading successful execution of audience and content strategies. This role will need to effectively develop and communicate the future vision for CMG radio from a content, product, audience, distribution, and data utilization perspective. The VP Audience & Content will utilize data to guide decisions and new strategies. This individual should be passionate and knowledgeable of the audio and digital media landscape.

The VP Audience & Content is a business partner, collaborator, and contributor to our team's continued success in the radio markets. Will assist in solving local business issues, enables and supports a cohesive team driving business results. Will provide the organization and market leaders with key insights and inroads that will evolve our brands and content for future growth. Will be a strong recruiter and developer of talent. Will provide coaching and development to leaders across CMG. Will provide consistent expertise and input to the corporate team to help shape CMG Radio's strategic direction.

The VP Audience & Content will represent the company at industry functions, on committees, and in the community to continually build our relationships within the media and advertising industry.

RESPONSIBILITIES

GENERAL

  1. Oversight and accountability of programming functions while operating with a keen business focus; leveraging company assets, transformative strategies, business model improvement, and embracing emerging technology and trends.
  2. Partnership with senior leadership team to develop and implement CMG Radio's audience data platform and strategy.
  3. Continue to build and maintain CMG distribution partnerships.
  4. Partner with business operations to maximize operational effectiveness and company resources.
  5. Develop and implement CMG Radio's audience strategy including podcasting, syndication, digital, social media, and emerging technologies.
  6. Lead strategic product innovation, partnering with key stakeholders across CMG.
  7. Build on and create new national content/sales initiatives such as collective contesting, and special events across CMG Radio's platform.
  8. Establish and maintain strong relationships with the music industry.
  9. Future-Watching (emerging markets, automotive dashboard, smart speaker, artificial intelligence, voice recognition, and new technologies).
  10. Develop and lead CMG Radio's talent development strategy for the future (on-air talent, programming & digital Leaders).

What we look for
  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) college or university preferred or equivalent work experience.
  • Must be very a strong practitioner of collaboration and matrix management to manage across all markets.
  • Excellent understanding of audio programming, digital media, audience, technology, data, and research.
  • Successful track record of leading teams, developing talent, and driving results.
  • Experience identifying, communicating, and inspiring an organization around innovation, and creating the next generation of process, product offerings, content development, and distribution.
  • Excellent community relations, interpersonal, leadership, an executive presence and strong demonstrated collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout organization.
  • General business experience and knowledge of media businesses.
