Description:
The Flagler College Department of Visual Arts invites applications for a full-time, benefits-eligible Visiting Assistant Professor of Art History. The appointment begins in August of 2024 and is for one year with the possibility of reappointment, pending successful review. Candidates should be prepared to contribute to the Art History program with teaching expertise that suits the program's global and transnational coverage.

We value candidates whose coursework will take a global perspective and have broad appeal within the context of a liberal arts institution. Prospective candidates must be capable of teaching courses in visual culture and the two-part art history survey; upper-division courses in their field of specialization; and courses for Flagler College's Core Curriculum. The teaching load is four classes per semester and responsibilities include maintaining an active research agenda.

The Faculty is dedicated to excellence in teaching, creative research, and interdisciplinary approaches to learning. Flagler College is a private, independent college with  an enrollment of approximately 2,500 students. The college is located in historic St. Augustine, FL, 35 miles south of Jacksonville and 55 miles north of Daytona Beach.

Qualifications:

Requirements include a Ph.D. (ABD will be considered) in Art History, Visual Studies, or a related field; a demonstrated commitment to undergraduate teaching; and evidence of professional development as a scholar. Salary is commensurate with experience. Review of applications will begin immediately.
