The Classics Department at Skidmore College invites applications for an approved, full-time, one-year position in classical studies and ancient Mediterranean history at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning fall 2024.We seek an historian of the Greco-Roman world (specialization open), who can elucidate broad networks of movement, exchange, and intercultural encounter. Applicants must be committed to teaching and mentoring enthusiastic undergraduates. We are particularly interested in candidates from underrepresented backgrounds, who can contribute to the diversity of our academic community. The teaching load is five courses, distributed over two terms. A completed Ph.D. is required before the start of the fall 2024 semester. Salary will be commensurate with experience.Candidates must be able to teach courses in the following areas:
