Job Description

Position Overview

As a Vice President, West Origination, you will be responsible for leading and driving Invenergy's origination activities in the West, generally including WECC, SPP, ERCOT, and CAISO. The VP, West Origination will maintain, develop, and grow utility customer relationships with the ultimate objective to execute offtake agreements including Power Purchase Agreements for new-build and existing assets, as well as Build Transfer Agreements and Development Transfer Agreements for new assets. This role will be responsible for market strategy development and execution in close collaboration with Invenergy's development, regulatory affairs, and strategy teams. This position will report to the EVP of Origination. This role would be an ideal opportunity for an ambitious team leader with deep industry experience and knowledge. Expect 25% travel.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with utility customers, especially at the senior level.
  • Develop marketing and sales strategies with objective to execute Power Purchase Agreements for new and existing assets, Build Transfer Agreements, and Development Transfer Agreements.
  • Lead and support contract negotiations with purposeful commercial strategy and risk management.
  • Lead a team of Originators and support staff to ensure broad customer engagement inclusive of RFP responses and bilateral sales.
  • Coordinate with development, finance, engineering and other departments to develop solutions for customers, including assisting in the development of proposals and pricing for opportunities.
  • Create strategies and business cases for new project developments in conjunction with other teams.
  • Maintain deep understanding and knowledge of power markets and regulatory activities impacting customers and projects.
  • Prepare and deliver internal and external presentations.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years in the energy sector with demonstrated expertise in sales, commercial deal structuring, and negotiations.
  • Deep knowledge of transmission and power markets with at least some experience across WECC, SPP, ERCOT, and/or CAISO.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Eligible to work in the United States without the need for employer visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Travel >25%

Preferred Skills:
  • MBA or similar advanced degree
  • Renewable energy project development experience
  • Renewable energy project management or construction experience.
  • Strong organizational, networking, leadership, and time management skills.
  • Strong public speaking and personal skills.
  • Ability to write effectively and communicate concisely.
  • Collaborative leader and team-player who will work with others to deliver results.

Salary Range

$215,000 - $260,000
