What we’re looking for:

The time is now for Intuitive to hire a strategic VP, Pricing Strategy who is adept at aligning and evolving Intuitive’s global pricing models and strategy.  The VP, Pricing Strategy will build out the strategic pricing function for the company.  S/he will develop and drive optimization of Company's pricing framework to increase customer value while balancing revenue and margin needs in a highly customer centric business model. This individual will focus on deeply understanding global customer value and engagement drivers to inform our pricing and acquisition frameworks. The successful individual will need to be a change agent and an influencer who closely collaborates with executives across Product, Digital, Commercial, Finance, Marketing and Legal.

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Lead, supervise and develop a robust strategic pricing function focused on the long-term evolution of our go to market pricing strategy.
  • Develop and implement value based pricing strategies based on business and competitive market dynamics to support broad adoption of Intuitive products globally.
  • Refine pricing activities to broaden monetization scope across ideation, innovation, product lifecycle management and customer price optimization.
  • Collect and leverage customer intelligence to understand customers’ value drivers, spend across their product/solution portfolio, and business economics influencing purchasing decisions.
  • Lead pricing engagement for strategic and business unit partnerships.
  • Provide thought-leadership on pricing and establish pricing best practices and methodologies into the company.
  • Act as senior decision maker on pricing of new product introduction and coach cross-functional stakeholders toward full product lifecycle profitability.
  • Conduct audits and analysis to ensure proper pricing and inventory management practices are in place. 
  • Work with Marketing and Global Public Affairs leadership to develop internal and external communications related to pricing.
  • Lead and develop talent aligned to enhancing the company’s strategic pricing capabilities.
  • Build strategic pricing capabilities within our business development, futures forward and INTUITIVE venture organizations. 
  • In collaboration with our Global Access Value Economics organization, develop regional pricing strategies that reflect value based pricing models.

Core Competencies, Skills and Experience Requirements:

  • 15+ years of well-rounded revenue optimization experience, with a minimum of 5 years of pricing strategy in the healthcare technology industry.
  • Leadership experience within large, matrixed, technology and/or medical device or healthcare companies.  
  • Experience in developing high-impact, scalable pricing strategies for local, regional and global markets to achieve business growth.
  • Superior analytic ability to understand and define critical issues (benefit/value map, pre-approved discount level, deal waterfall, volume impact, elasticity)
  • Highly capable in building relationships across c-suite and peer groups, and effectively collaborating and influencing decision-makers across business units and functions to achieve corporate pricing objectives.
  • Demonstrated success in navigating complex business environments and leading the change management efforts required when introducing new processes and evolving the capabilities of an organization
  • Strong negotiating skills based on a thorough understanding of sales/marketing practices
  • Proven experience on establishing metrics to track and tactics to address the effectiveness of pricing strategies.
  • Capable of defining, prioritizing, and executing large-scale projects and initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership skills with deep business acumen; proven ability to inspire, develop, and motivate a pricing strategy team.

Education:

  • BS/BA or equivalent experience required
  • MBA and Professional Pricing Certification preferred
