The Utility Worker's role is to perform a variety of machine shop tasks to assist in machine shop activities including (but not limited to) cleaning, straightening, organizing, painting, etc. Performs back-up duties for the truck driver, warehouse coordinator and saw operator as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Clean, straighten and organize production facility and grounds as necessary.
  • Paint facility and machines as required.
  • Back-up truck driver transporting raw materials, semi-finished and finished goods via company trucks to and from local vendors and customers.
  • Properly secure pallets and loads to ensure safe transportation and prevent damage to loads.
  • Operate, load and unload both company vehicles in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Inspect trucks for mechanical items and safety issues and perform basic preventative maintenance.
  • Inspect material received from vendors/customers for proper part count and note any damage or discrepancies with job paperwork.
  • Assist/backup warehouse associate with material handling and organization of raw materials and finished goods inventory.
  • Backup industrial saw operator in production.
  • Perform other assignments as directed by production supervision.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to organize and maintain a neat and safe work area
  • Basic numerical aptitude
  • Valid driver's license
  • Proof of insurability
  • Prior experience as a truck driver preferred
  • Forklift certification or aptitude to acquire forklift certification
  • Effective communication skills
  • Physical agility to load/unload trucks and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to follow work instructions and work independently
  • REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record, insurability, and ability to pass the requirements for a DOT medical examination. Demonstrated safe driving history/experience and a strong work ethic. Ability to operate independently.
  • Physical Requirements: Considerable walking, bending, stooping, squatting, turning, and reaching for tools, parts and materials from floor level to a maximum of six feet high; occasional lifting up to 50 pound
