Location: 500 South 16th St, Lincoln, NE

Schedule: 8am - 5pm; M-F
Examples of Work
Receive and respond to telephone inquiries from claimants, employers, other agencies, and the public about the unemployment insurance program by interpreting state and federal unemployment insurance law, agency rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and guidelines. Receive telephone calls from claimants and process all types of Unemployment Insurance initial claims, by guiding and coaching individuals through the claims process. Explain services, procedures, options, and benefits to customers; discuss NDOL and American Job services and refer accordingly. Prescreen claims by gathering and assessing key database information on claimants type and location of employment and applying, federal and Nebraska state laws to make decisions on the appropriate unemployment claim to file. Collect, record and store claimant demographics, employment history along with appropriate occupational classification codes and enter respective data into a computer database. Conduct periodic eligibility review interviews with claimants regarding ability and availability for work. Assist in the monitoring of local scanning terminal, fax terminals and the Enterprise Management System to ensure system continuity. Forward employer and claimant correspondence for adjudication or additional processing. Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Coursework/training in math, composition and/or use of computer equipment AND experience in a public service program including answering inquiries and explaining procedures or experience in customer service or call center.

PREFERRED: Associate's degree in business administration, marketing, human resources, social services or related field. Six months' experience working as a customer service representative.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of: State and Federal regulations and policies; Nebraska Employment Security Law. Skilled in: interviewing to collect elicit essential information; accurate data entry; organizing and filing workload.

Ability to: interpret written information and forward to appropriate parties; respond in a timely manner to deadlines; work under limited supervision.
