Position Summary:
The Transportation Supervisor position is responsible for the supervision of ready mix concrete driver personnel ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of products to customer job sites. This position is based in the East valley including Mesa, Coolidge, Superior, Sacaton, and Apache Junction areas and will promote and maintain good customer relations both internally and externally.

Responsibilities:
1. Administer the Company's safety program to ensure compliance with Company policies and best practices.

  • Conduct driver safety meetings (early mornings prior to production shift start), job safety analysis, training, task audits and review all near miss incidents to improve process.
  • Investigate accidents thoroughly and help to determine cause. Report accidents, injuries and property damage claims to Manager, Regional Safety manager and insurance carrier within a twenty four hour period.
2. Train, develop and coach staff, monitor their performance and discipline as necessary according to Company policy.
3. Administration
  • Maintain logs and manuals
  • Responsible for completing weekly payroll duties through the Kronos timekeeping system
  • Ensure CDL and DOT medical qualifications are current
  • Order, maintain and distribute inventory for PPE, truck cleaning supplies, and janitorial supplies.
4. Maintain good working relationship with customers. This includes regular communication and job site visits when necessary. Attend pre-job/pre-pour meetings, assist with truck flow to ensure safe, quality, and efficient deliveries.
5. Responsible for assisting with coordinating and prioritizing daily RMC pour schedule with the Sales Department, Dispatch and Customer Service. Will work closely with these departments to ensure effective communication and coordinate jobsite truck flow, establish good working relationships with on-site project managers, superintendents, foremen, and work crews.
6. Will communicate closely with Human Resources, RMC Batching, Dispatch, Quality Control, Operations, Shop, and/or Sales departments regarding essential daily business or job specific needs.
7. Recommend changes in personnel as necessary to meet job requirements to dispatch for effectiveness and efficiencies for internal departments and external customers.
8. Perform other duties and assignments as required

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience, high school diploma required
  • Three to five years of supervisory experience highly preferred
  • Must have the ability to write routing reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Must be computer literate with spreadsheet experience (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power point)
  • Must have valid commercial driver's license
  • 10 years of customer service/dispatching experience
  • 5 years of driver coaching experience
  • Prefer 5-7 years of mixer driving experience
