Examples of Work

  • Oversee, coordinate, and review the development of grant/contracts to manage federal aid funds.
  • Review requisitions, billings, invoices, and contracts pertaining to federal aid for proper documentation.
  • May include amending improper or inaccurate documents.
  • Provides technical direction in preparation of all grant documents and reports to ensure compliance with federal regulations.
  • Prepares monthly and annual reports evaluating various federal aid activities; includes monitoring progress of all required applications and agreements to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Make arrangements for and performs site inspections of sub-grantees. Provides liaison between and confers with various project officials and federal and state authorities. Forecasts future funding requirements when required.
  • Reviews new federal policies that relate to funding grants and manages the implementation of those policies.
  • Collect, enter, and analyze data used to identify the state's highway safety problems.
  • Keeps updated on new federal policies and guidelines that relate to funding grants and supervises the Implementation of these policies.
  • Construct charts and graphs and compile goals and annual reports for the Highway Safety Plan and the Annual Evaluation Report.
  • May be responsible for maintaining, updating, and revising the Highway Safety Office website. Communicate with public, law enforcement, national, state and county, and agency governments, to provide accurate statistical Information by letter, email, or telephone.
  • Attend and represent the Highway Safety Office at national, regional, state and county conferences, meetings, and workshops by providing input and Information, and relaying feedback to the agency.
  • Teamwork. If something needs to be done and you can do it and have the time - you should do it.
Qualifications / Requirements
REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in grants management, business administration, public administration, accounting, budgeting, or a related fiscal field, and two years experience in grant management, contract administration, accounting, budgeting, or other fiscal related areas of work. Additional years of experience in the areas listed may substitute for the required education, on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED: Knowledge and experience in highway safety/driver behavioral and educational programs. Basic knowledge of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) federal 402 and 405 grant programs. Basic knowledge of seat belt and child passenger safety laws and practices. Basic knowledge of media placement to include print, radio, social and digital.

OTHER: Must have a valid driver's license with a good driving record, or the ability to provide independent transportation. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Must have excellent communication skills. Must be proficient and experienced in the use of computer programs and personal computers. Must have experience with Microsoft Office products, Adobe Photoshop Elements, Acrobat Pro. Objective mindset, customer service oriented, adaptable, well organized and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team. Will be required to organize/attend conferences and occasional public meetings, out of town and occasional overnight travel required.
