Independent Electric Supply, Inc. (IES) opened in 1976 with ten employees to serve electrical contractors working in the high-tech aerospace industry. Summary

 

 

Essential Functions

  • Call on Electrical Contractors – Show new products and promotions. Cross and convert competitive product.  
  • Prepare customer Quotes/Orders
  • Manage inventory
  • Work with IES purchasing team
  • Joint sales calls with vendors
  • Provide Lunch-N-learns for contractors and our inside/outside sales teams
  • Attend showcase/counter days at branches
  • Send current promos to branch managers
  • Work with vendors and marketing team to create end user promotions
  •  Set up and track promotions at counters
  • Support branch sales staff, both inside and out sales
  • Manage branch counter displays – make sure they are merchandise and any gaps are filled in accordingly
  • Assist in setting up new products
  • Monthly conference call with Director of T&S Division, Sonepar

Supervisory Responsibility, work environment and physical demands

  • This position has no supervisory responsibility.
  • This position works in a normal office environment as well as a warehouse environment, with standard office equipment. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. while working in the office.  The noise level in the warehouse environment is usually moderate and temperature can change based on the season.  This position also requires frequent travel to customer sites, which can be in a variety of environments including outdoor with inclement weather.
  • Work is sedentary in nature, but may require standing and walking for up to 60% of the time.
  • Work can involve the operation of forklift, equipment such as pallet jacks and climb ladders; bend, stoop, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.

Through previous background and experience, the candidate must be able to demonstrate, with or without an accommodation:

  • Two to four years of relevant business or industry-specific experience.
  • Proven ability to learn our business and to work independently to achieve goals.
  • Negotiation skills along with the ability to sell and be persuasive.
  • Collaborate, mentor, motivate and lead VMI associates in a matrix organization
  • Ability to multi task.
  • Broad knowledge of business administration, sales, and marketing.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.
  • Acceptable driving record.
  • Excellent phone, customer service and written/oral communication skills.
  • Possess in depth knowledge of IES computer systems, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Must be a team player and abide by IES’s strong core values and beliefs.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B. S.) in Supply Chain Management or Logistics and two (2) to four (4) years related experience and training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong leadership skills including coaching, mentoring and listening
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
