Job Description Summary
Perry World House is a center for scholarly inquiry, teaching, research, international exchange, policy engagement, and public outreach on pressing global issues. Our mission is to bring the academic knowledge of the University of Pennsylvania to bear on some of the world's most pressing global policy challenges, and to foster international policy engagement within and beyond the Penn community.

Through its rich programming, Perry World House facilitates critical conversations about global policy challenges and fosters interdisciplinary research on these topics. It presents workshops and colloquia, welcomes distinguished visitors, and produces content for global audiences and policy leaders, so that the knowledge developed at Penn can make an immediate impact around the world.

Job Description

  • Effectively manage programs and visitors associated with nascent thematic work around global human rights.
  • Research human rights themes and prospective visitor.
  • Plan and manage visits to maximize impact and reach, including logistics and substantive agendas. Coordinate travel and other schedules.
  • Work with Senior Executive Director and communicate effectively with human rights-focused visiting fellows and visiting scholars.
  • Identify, follow-up on, and organize on-campus opportunities across a range of stakeholders, including with faculty, other visitors, other centers on campus, students, on-campus student groups, and with other PWH stakeholders.
  • Provide research and organizational (programmatic, logistical, administrative, and other) support to human-rights focused thematic workshop(s) by PWH.
  • Administratively organize and staff human rights meetings and follow-up and fulfill other administrative, organizational, and research duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Should be interested in human rights policy and praxis with demonstrated work in the areas including human rights, women's human rights, multi-lateral institutions and human rights, great power politics and human rights, etc.
  • Must be a self-starter and a good team player, while also being able to work autonomously; an excellent communicator; possess excellent analytic, writing, and communication skills. Should be exceptionally well organized and an exemplary project manager. Should be comfortable with technology to help project manage and complete work efficiently, including Microsoft Office Suites and various video platforms.
  • BA minimum; strong preference for MA.
