Overview

Under the guidance of the Lead Knitting Technician, develop proficiency and have the working experience to set up, repair, replace parts and perform preventive maintenance on hosiery knitting machines. In addition, troubleshoot malfunctions by reading the machine computer display and/or by diagnosing the trouble; correct problems using innate aptitude and special training and keep skills current with changes in the process. This job is designed to function as a feeder job for the Head Fixer A position.

$250.00 sign on bonus after successful completion of 5 months of employment.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Set-up, adjust, repair, and replace parts on hosiery knitting machines. Perform all adjustments, tighten loose parts, correct or replace trick drum jacks, faulty needles, cut jacks as necessary, etc.
  • Troubleshoot malfunctions by reading machine computer display and/or diagnosing trouble machinery without visual display requires more diagnostic ability.
  • Assist the Head Fixer A on major repairs including overhauls, welding and machining.
  • Correct problems using innate mechanical aptitude and special training.
  • Acquire spare parts from parts room as needed.
  • Ensure that knitting machine parts are properly lubricated.
  • Maintain acceptable quality.
  • Work in a line that is having trouble as required.
  • Assist with style and size changes as required.
  • Shut off knitting machines at end of working week. Re-start machines at beginning of week. Re-start after power failure.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and controlled fixing responsibilities.
  • Maintain correct RPM speed. Check on a periodic basis.
  • Perform line studies as required.
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervision.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
  • Make sure that yarn packages are properly placed and aligned in the creel rack.
  • Keep waste receptacles clean to maintain full vacuum on trimmers.
  • Calculate SPC data and post to charts.
  • Pursue cost reductions via non-company vendor contact for expendable items and/or services utilized in the employee's departmental area of responsibility and functional assignment.
Must pass fixer tests.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.

Must be able to pass Background Screening and Drug Test.
