believes good design should be a part of everyday life-and that you don't have to be an expert to make it happen. We are looking for a Technical Editor who is part home improvement genius, part wordsmith. You will be working to improve Hunker's existing library (sprucing up articles that need reworking for safety, accuracy, and readability) as well as the main technical expertise on the Hunker team - aka a gatekeeper to ensure our home improvement and DIY content is correct and easy to understand for our readership.

    • Refreshing existing home improvement and how-to articles in the Hunker library for safety, accuracy, and readability as well as writing occasional new articles for the Home Hacks & Answers section of the site.
    • Reviewing existing content in the Hunker library and recommending improvements and noting articles that should be taken down for safety reasons.
    • Working in a content management system to make any changes necessary to articles.
    • Reviewing new content to ensure that it's accurate and easy to understand. How-to articles should be heavily scrutinized for feasibility and safety.
    • Assisting the Senior Utility Editor in planning content for the site - using your technical expertise as a home improvement expert to know what topics should be covered and how they should be covered.
    • Working closely with Hunker's Senior Content Director and Senior Utility Editor to ensure that all SEO content is meeting Hunker's rigorous creative and editorial standards.
    • Brainstorming ways to make how-to and technical content more interactive and engaging for our readership.

    • Vast knowledge of all things home improvement: Either a technical certification or extensive hands-on experience
    • 3-5 years working for an online home improvement publisher
    • Experience editing others' work
    • Ability to manage high-volume workload and meet quotas without sacrificing quality
    • Excellent time management and communication skills for a remote work environment
    • Existing network of qualified contributors a huge plus
    • Passion for home improvement/renovations
    • Excellent verbal and written communication.
    • Not afraid to wear multiple hats - no job being too small or too large.
    • We're casual and informal but we work hard and work responsibly. Personal accountability goes a long way. We believe we are the change.
