As a Technical Director for Carlisle Weatherproofing Technologies you will be responsible for leading the execution of R&D efforts across a variety of product lines including adhesive, tape, sealant, coatings, water/weather proofing systems, various industrial and state-of-the-art adhesive and rubber processing technologies. The key responsibilities include develop new products, cost savings initiatives, technical support and related technical projects aligning with business strategy and key customers

Duties and Responsibilities:

* Providing leadership in new product development, project management, scale-up, processing, and new product launches
* Working closely with sales and marketing, product management, operations and quality, the candidate will be accountable for new products/processes translating to meaningful, sustainable market opportunities
* Key role in upgrading critical existing product/process technologies to deliver targeted benefits and improved measurable financial results
* Leading a team of scientists and technicians on NPDs, formula cost optimization and raw material qualification programs without sacrificing quality
* Provide process support and advanced trouble shooting, including root cause analysis for existing and new products, and project scale-up from R&D to manufacturing process
* Identifying and resourcing key technical relationships necessary (i.e. ASTM) to support the technical portfolio
* Supporting customer complaint investigations regarding product quality, application, and field performance related complaints
* Provides competitive analysis work requested by product management
* Sharing information and communicating effectively with senior R&D leadership, and widely across various company functional team members
* Coordinating the internal/external technical resources and industry professionals to facilitate the transfer and sharing of technical data and information
* Participating in relevant external industry organizations to provide appropriate influence in the building product industry in addition to collecting and sharing information among key research professionals.

* Candidates should have completed a Ph.D. in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science or similar discipline(s), or a MS/BS with equivalent experience
* Minimum 5+ years of working experience for a mid-to-large company in an R&D leadership position with a demonstrated track record in generating revenue growth through innovative solutions
* Demonstrated experience of adhesives and coatings for water proofing and/or weather proofing applications specifically Roofing/construction/building product industry; experience in modified bitumen, STPE and /or butyl adhesives is highly desirable
* Demonstrated ability to lead efforts in converting complex scientific concepts from the laboratory phase to manufacturing and ultimately to commercialization
* History of a commercially motivated approach to R&D with a willingness to think outside the box and thrive in a fast paced, dynamic, entrepreneurial environment
* Thorough knowledge in the implementation of a stage gate process working in a cross-functional team environment
* Demonstrated ability to manage and motivate others while fostering a collegial and productive working environment
* Expert understanding of adhesive/coating technology
* Extensive background knowledge and experience in new product development, Project Management including Stage-Gate Process
* Comprehensive understanding and hands-on knowledge of analytical testing techniques (ASTM) and applications. Familiarity with relevant 3rd Party testing agencies (FM, UL)
* Strong working knowledge of quality management systems such as SPC and/or Six Sigma, with fluency in Microsoft office suite and applicable software systems
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into an executive summary format
* Willingness to travel approximately 20% - 30%, as needed
