Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor in Software Engineering

The Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources at West Virginia University seeks applications and nominations for a Teaching Assistant/Associate Professor in the field of Software Engineering. The appointment shall be in the Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering. The general area of interest for this search is software engineering, with specialty interests that may include various technical and project management aspects of software engineering relevant to different domains of software industry. 

The software engineering program is one of the top ranked online M.S. programs in the Nation having begun in 1996 to meet regional technology industry demand but has now grown to meet the software development professional’s demand for an advanced software engineering education across the nation in nearly every industry. West Virginia University is a comprehensive Land Grant University with a Carnegie Classification of Highest Research Activity (i.e., R1 University). The Statler College is growing and currently has seven academic departments, over 4,700 students, and 135 faculty members, with about $30M in annual external research expenditures. The Lane Department of Computer Science and Electrical Engineering has 33 faculty members and approximately 500 undergraduate and 160 graduate students. The successful candidate will greatly benefit from the resources offered by the Lane Department, Statler College, the software industry partners and other collaborators. WVU is a National Center of Academic Excellence (NCAE) in Cyber Defense Research (CAE-R) and the B.S. in cybersecurity program is a NCAE in Cyber Defense Education (CAE-CDE) designated by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). WVU is member of US CYBERCOMMAND Academic Engagement Network and AFRL information institute, providing an opportunity to provide enriching experience to students. Qualifications

We seek a dynamic faculty member with outstanding technical expertise and a proven, ongoing track record of teaching experience or potential to develop graduate level software engineering courses for online learning management systems (LMS) platforms such as Blackboard, Coursera, and Udemy. We welcome candidates that have equivalent experience in the private sector or national laboratories/institutes. The successful applicant must hold an earned Ph.D. in computer science, software engineering or a closely related field.
