Essential Functions and Primary Duties

The Tax Manageris responsible for successfully managing multiple tax engagements and advising clients on the tax implications of their business objectives. As the primary client contact for complex tax issues, the Tax Manager will evaluate and select alternative actions to lessen tax burden and cost of compliance and identify different methods of complying with tax regulations. This position offers excellent opportunities for leadership and career advancement and will also include the following responsibilities:
  • Provide innovative tax planning and review complex income tax returns
  • Identify potential tax issues and communicate potential risks and changes in the tax policy
  • Successfully manage tax engagements and teams of all sizes to follow the progress of the work throughout the engagement in order to manage client expectations
  • Be familiar with the qualifications of all staff members, review staff assignments, assist in recruiting, developing and training the professional staff
  • Communicate Firm policies and technical information through individual or group meetings
  • Responsible for billing and profitability of all assigned engagements
  • Actively involved in the marketing, networking and business development within an area of expertise and specialization
  • Represent the Firm in professional and service organizations, communicate and reinforce Firm culture, and mentor and coach others

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5-8 years of public accounting experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • CPA
  • Experienced in preparing and reviewing federal, state and local tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
  • Exposure to general ledger accounting and financial statement reporting
  • Extensive use of Microsoft Excel & Word and experience with tax software
  • Passion for maintaining/building client relationships, managing client expectations, while demonstrating knowledge of client businesses
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred in Accounting, Taxation or related field
  • 6 years of experience in public accounting or related field
  • 3 years supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
  • Must be able to travel based on client and business needs
  • Proficient use of applicable technology
