Job Description

The Systems Specialist will serve as an active member of a service oriented, dynamic, and student centered team. The Systems Specialist will maintain financial aid information systems which include PowerFaids, Department of Education communication systems (EdConnect, NSLDS, COD) and interfaces Slate and Workday; assist with reconciliation of federal, state, and institutional funds (PELL, SEOG, FWS); process correction and payment files; assist with the development and processing of departmental exception, discrepancy, and reconciliation reports as well as workflows; serve as primary contact for systems security with LTS; assist with electronic communications for the department; responsible for monitoring and assisting in the processing of financial aid applications. This role will also assist the Associate Director with maintaining and testing SFS systems and databases.

Primary Position Responsibilities

  • Maintain financial aid information systems which include PowerFaids, Department of Education communication systems (EdConnect, NSLDS, COD) and interfaces Slate and Workday
  • Assist with reconciliation of federal, state and institutional funds (such as PELL, SEOG, Direct Loans)
  • Assist with development and processing of departmental exception, discrepancy, and reconciliation reports
  • Assist with electronic communications for the department
  • Responsible for financial aid application workflow, through loading application materials, running application reports, and ensuring data integrity

Performance Profile

1) Provide excellent service to all constituents (students, applicants, parents, colleagues) as evidenced by clear, accurate and timely communication via email, phone and in person.

2) Active and positive participation as a member of the SFS team.

3 Departmental systems updated and maintained to support efficiency and effective office workflows.

Education Required
  • Bachelors degree is required

Experience Required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in higher education and/or one of the areas that comprises Student Financial Services (financial aid, student accounts/tuition payment, student employment, educational financing) or related field.
  • Experience with a wide variety of software and database applications, such as Banner, Nolij, Google, and Microsoft Office.

Skills and Abilities Required
  • Ability to work independently, but to also contribute positively to a team approach. Demonstrated experience in providing superior service, and excellent communication skills (both written and verbal).

Other
  • Some evenings and weekends may be required.
  • Wellesley College is currently piloting a flexwork plan for administrative staff that incorporates both flexible hours and hybrid teleworking components, though all employees must live in New England.
