Summary:
As a member of a Design team, you will be assigned for the technical abilities within the installation of security, video, access, and fire alarm systems designs. Supporting and coaching junior team members on the designs and technical support for national account customers for site level construction projects or larger scale national roll outs for specific scope. This is an experienced position intended to provide overall experience and training in electronic security system designs. The System Design Specialist position works closely with our clients, internal sales team, project teams, and technical support teams to deliver the system designs that meet the client's needs. Creating and producing all associated documents such as estimate of materials, estimates of labor, product sourcing, creation of designed plans, and technical wiring diagrams to support the internal and external teams on the delivery of the client's request.
What You'll Do:

System Design:
- Creation and the implementation of designing systems based on customer requirements by providing appropriate system parts and components, establishing piece counts, completing parts research, and considering any other applicable variables required to meet specific design criteria through the process of engineering systems.
- Using AutoCAD, Visio, PDF and other design tools, use knowledge of systems, create video, security, access, and integrated security solutions.
- Interpret plans to best protect and provide solutions.
- Determine and calculate wire and power requirements, network configuration requirements, mounting specifications.
- Assist with providing technical details for the technical writer in order to create accurate installation guides, technical bulletins and other relevant material.
- Provide technical and design recommendations to customers based on assessed needs.
- Compile and document the programming guides to be used by the Technical Services Group, Project Teams and TSP/sub-contractors for each design, in order to provide clear and coordinated interpretations of the repeating prototype system installation. This will be including, but not limited to the following: installation guidelines, wiring diagrams, programming details, and user training guides.
- Develop system panel programs utilizing the appropriate manufacturer's programming software, ensuring the customer(s) and Vectors established requirements are met.
- Special assignments or projects as directed.

Estimating and Quoting:
- From the designs created in AutoCAD, using D365 and Experlogix to generate a quote using approved equipment, establishing labor for components, and insuring compatibility and profitability.
- Establishing and documenting the scope of work to be completed for each project, in order to provide clear and coordinated interpretations of the requested scopes of work for the installation of Burglar Alarm Systems/Fire Alarm Systems/Video Systems/Access Control Systems and other technologies as required.
- Create and use equipment templates to be utilized for future projects to build uniformity and consistency.
What You'll Need:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Bachelor's Degree - Preferred

Advanced working knowledge of Burglar Alarm/Fire Alarm/Video Surveillance/Access Control systems:
- Previous field experience or minimum of 3-years additional engineering and design experience required.
- Used in all phases of project design and implementation, including the support of field technicians, customer communications, and end user training/trouble shooting.

Proficient Computer Skills:
- Must be highly proficient, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Network Topology.
- Other areas requiring knowledge are AutoCAD, MS-CRM, Panel Programming RPS, DMP, Silent Knight, and Compass. Other CCTV DVR software.

Formal Technical Training or Equivalent Working Experience:
- Professional hard and soft technical skills necessary to efficiently and effectively assistance and technical support for projects.

Organization Skills:
- Must be able to multi-task and manage multiple projects, departments, and personnel. Must be able to meet Customer (Internal and External) deadlines.

Communication/Interpersonal Skills:
- Must be able to intelligently communicate (verbal and written) to internal and external Customers and Management.

Ability to Research/Interpret Requirements as They Pertain to the Design and installation of security, CCTV, Access, and Network Systems and Related Components:
- Required for gathering information to produce accurate and complete systems, manuals, and documents to the engineering and design team.

Capacity to Create Effective Team-Oriented Work Atmosphere:
- Must be able to develop team concepts and work with multi-departmental personnel.

NICET HV And Other Technical Certifications:
- Required to validate proficiency and experience in life safety systems design and installation as well as specific knowledge in FA, BA, CCTV and Access Control products.
