Overview / Responsibilities

POSITION OVERVIEW:

Supervises and coordinates the activity of workers, predominantly from one occupation craft to ensure that work is done safely, correctly and timely.

EDUCATION AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

May require a high school diploma or its equivalent with previous years of experience in the field or in a related area. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines.

If required to operate an Amec Foster Wheeler owned, rented or leased vehicle, must qualify as an authorized driver.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

- Has worked as a foreman in his/her craft.

- Follow oral and written directions.

- Comprehend blueprints, sketches and plans.

- Plan work and activities.

- Rate information using standards that can be measured or checked.

- Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy.

- Accurately apply mathematical skills.

- Compare and see differences in size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects.

- Reading and writing skills.

- Recognize and report safety hazards.

- Climb and maintain balance on ladders and scaffolds.

- Work at heights without fear.

- See well (naturally or with correction) and distinguish colors

POSITION: General Foreman



REPORTS TO: Superintendent or Manager

TECHNICAL DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Works with and instructs Forman on work activities.
  1. Interprets written and/or oral orders, sketches and blueprints to coordinate activities of assigned workers, materials, equipment and tools.
  2. Inspects quality of all work to ensure company standards and project specifications are met.
  3. Assists workers in their performance of assigned duties.
  4. Analyzes and resolves work related problems.
  5. Reviews material received at jobsite to ensure it is correct and not defective.
  6. Checks equipment to ensure proper working conditions.
  7. Maintains time and tracks production.
  8. Interprets and enforces company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations company policy to employees.
  9. May study schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job.
  10. May make cost estimates for contracts.
  11. Establishes and adjusts work sequences to meet construction schedule, using knowledge of capacities of equipment and assigned personnel.
  12. Responsible for observing and complying with all safety and project rules. Performs other duties as required.

  2. Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees.
  1. Be motivated and work safely and productively.
  2. Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazards, etc.



PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  1. May be required to lift and carry items weighing no more than 50 pounds.
  2. Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above.
  3. Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas.
  4. Must have full range of motion consistent with age.
  5. May be required consistently to work 12 hour shifts performing construction based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions.
    1. May be required, on occasion, to work up to 16 hours in a single shift.
  6. Must be able to climb and maintain balance on stairs, ladders, scaffolds and steel framework.
  7. Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands and alerts from other employees, alarms, and other job related noises.
  8. Visual acuity, depth perception and color discrimination consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces.
