Job Description

Provide pre-survey and final-survey preplot services for marine geophysical projects and hydrographic surveys in the form of survey line planning and associated information. Responsible for multiple simultaneous projects. Provide calculations and database information used in commercial bid documents. Work closely with project managers to understand the survey client requirements. Work directly with clients to understand the details of their requirements that will be impacted by the survey planning. Gather all information associated with survey line planning, build line plan in coordination with Fugro project managers. Determine the most efficient manner to collect AUV field data by minimizing line turns. Produce mission plan package for delivery to field crew. Ensure each project is calculated to Fugro's high quality standards. Modify and/or create survey plan to accommodate project requirements. Serve as advanced trouble-shooter of geodesy related issues for international and local projects. Ensure that the correct quality control procedures are embedded within the survey to aid in post processing multi-beam or other sensors, by working closely with processing supervisor, project management and technical staff. Utilize AUV navigation and support the production of a survey plan that maximizes quality data acquisition. Be cognizant of the limitations of AUV Camera system and work cooperatively with field staff and processing group to promote the acquisition of quality photo mosaics. Suggest and help implement new ways to improve data quality and workflow efficiencies. Provide cross-training to project level Geo-processors to assist in survey line calculations during high workload periods or vacation scheduling. Continue to promote enhanced quality tools that support survey line planning. Communicate limitations of available tools and processes to support development of more efficient survey planning. erve as advanced trouble-shooter of geodesy related issues for international and local projects.

Minimum Education Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Oceanography.

Minimum Experience Requirements:

Ocean Engineering (Ocean Bathymetry, Hydrographer Category A) or any occupation or job title in which 1 year of experience with geophysical related data processing (i.e. Survey Navigation systems, AUV data systems, side scan sonar, multibeam echo sounders) was gained.
