Position Title: Support Technician (Temporary, Part-Time, up to 19.5 hours per week)

Department: Division of Health Sciences

Rate of Pay: $15.66/hourly

Closed Date: Open Until Filled

Position Summary:

The Division of Health Sciences is looking for a Support Technician to provide excellent general administrative support and customer service in the Dental Clinic. The Support Technician will serve as the first point of contact for guests, greeting and providing information to students, faculty, staff, and others by phone or in person. The Support Technician will perform a wide range of general clerical duties to support the daily operations of the office and may be asked to assist in other areas of the campus and College as needed.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • This position is predominately evening and occasional weekend work hours. Days and times vary from one semester to the next as the support is related to when patient clinics are scheduled
  • Cover daytime clinics when needed
  • Collect patient payments, reconcile clinic receipts each clinic and settle credit card machine
  • Perform various intermediate office support duties, utilizing standard office equipment, which may include:
    • Photocopying documents
    • Providing customer service
    • Typing and data entry
    • Scan and import patient documents
    • Researching and responding to inquiries from College faculty, staff, students, and the general public
    • Providing information regarding College processes and procedures
  • Prepare and maintain confidential records, including standard correspondence and working calendars
  • Answer the telephone and direct calls
  • Manage appointment book
  • Take and transmit phone messages
  • Respond to and direct incoming, walk-in traffic to the Division of Health Sciences
  • Assemble and compile data for incorporation into reports
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of mailings, fliers, lists, packets, and schedules of activities
  • Participate in meetings and special projects with staff as directed
  • Provide support with dental equipment within scope of your knowledge
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Degree and
  • Two years of office experience, including experience using computers and other business equipment
or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above
The ideal candidate will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Dental office experience
  • Demonstrate strong customer service skills and customer-focused intent, ability to learn and apply new skills quickly, and understand/apply principles of confidentiality and confidential record management
  • Application of technology and various software including Microsoft and Google products
  • Knowledge of general record keeping principles
  • Knowledge of office procedures
  • Skills in providing excellent customer service
  • Knowledge of basic math, spelling, and grammar principles
  • Skills in using computers and software application programs
  • Skills in communication, including interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc...
