Join the Bronco Shop team as the inventory control manager for all new Bronco gear and course materials.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
To supervise a staff in procurement, inventory control, and shipping and receiving in a supply center; perform related work

Level Scope:
Provides direct supervision typically to professionals or skilled technical employees. Functions as advisor to unit and administration. Analyzes and resolves problems, interprets policies and demonstrates solid subject matter knowledge. Exercises judgment within defined procedures and policies to determine appropriate action. Supervises staff to assure accountability and stewardship of campus resources in compliance with departmental goals and objectives.

Essential Functions:
60% of the time the Supply Operations Supervisor must:

  • Supervision:
    • Typical responsibilities: hires, trains, and supervises staff.
    • Evaluates performance; assigns work and establishes priorities
    • Develops policies and procedures; monitors work to insure accuracy and completeness and for conformance to internal policies and procedures and purchasing rules and regulations.
    • Resolves personnel problems; monitors and maintains section budget; authorizes expenditures.
  • Program administration.
    • Typical responsibilities: directs and controls shipping and receiving, purchasing, and inventory control;
    • Determines specific product or equipment requirements by discussing with user;
    • Resolves supply, inventory, and vendor problems; prepares specifications;
    • Establishes inventory levels; may determine pricing structure for resale in stores;
    • Develops and implements automated inventory record keeping methods and procedures;
    • Insures proper storage and safety procedures are followed in the warehouse and supply yard;
    • Supervises the handling, storing, and transporting of hazardous and caustic materials; maintains storage records;
    • Files freight claims and negotiates with freight companies for claim settlement;
    • Determines if items should be used, sold, or declared surplus; may plan, organize and direct public auctions; may supervise motor pool, storage, and moving operations;
    • May maintain capital and chattel property records and insure proper disposal.

35% of the time the Supply Operations Supervisor must:
  • Hire, appraise, and train student employees.
  • Oversee retention, storage, and destruction of all Bronco Shop records.
  • Prepare DC for physical inventory counts.
  • Attend weekly staff meetings.
  • Drive delivery truck to store locations for merchandise delivery.
  • Work with other departments within the DC for space usage and organization.

5% Duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Some knowledge of personnel administrations.
  • Analyze data to plan courses of actions to ensure proper inventory levels and organization
  • Partner and collaborate with outside vendors.
  • Problem solves and makes inventory and business decisions, often with urgent deadlines.
  • Knowledge in the operations of inventory levels and designing and implementing storage procedures.
  • Detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Some knowledge of: supervisory practices; handling, storing, and transporting hazardous and caustic materials.

Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of automated inventory control methods and procedures.
Experience: preparing specifications for bid; maintaining inventory levels; interpreting and applying purchasing laws and a department's policies and procedures; calculating and determining inventory levels; designing and implementing storage procedures; operating a personal computer.

A valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bookstore experience
  • Certification to operate a forklift or obtain a certificate as part of job training
