Under the direct supervision of the Supplier Quality Manager, the Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will assess risk, measure and improve overall supplier performance and work with Materion's Purchasing, Operations, Engineering and Supply Chain teams to communicate Materion requirements and expectations. The SQE will maintain systems and procedures that will improve the overall quality of the supply base, conduct supplier edits, and facilitate surveys of critical external providers.

You Will Have the Opportunity to:

  • Conduct regular supplier reviews and maintain supplier scorecards to evaluate supplier performance and assure quality and delivery goals are met. In conjunction with the Materion Supplier Quality Manager, AMG, will ensure supplier's implement the requirements of the Materion Supplier Quality Manual.
  • Manages the supplier Corrective Action Report (CAR) process, including Supplier Performance Improvement (SCARs), to ensure thorough root cause analyses and corrective action implementation.
  • Lead the overall coordination, evaluation and compliance of the PAC Supplier quality program.
  • Ensure purchase orders include required supplier quality provisions based on the contract or customer PO.
  • Support purchasing, strategic sourcing, and engineering to implement supplier cost saving initiatives.
  • Assure all key product characteristics (CTQ's) are identified on drawings and specifications for supplied materials, including implementation of SPC requirements.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry or other Technical field
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in manufacturing/quality/ engineering roles in companies embracing Lean or Six Sigma principles
  • Experience conducting supplier qualification audits and process evaluations to determine components conform to specifications
  • Experience reviewing supplier PFMEAs, PPAP, control plans, Gauge R&R studies and Cpk studies to validate if suppliers meet qualification requirements preferred
  • Strong computer skills in SAP a plus
  • Minimum of 35% travel to US and international located suppliers
The selection of the person to be hired for this position is contingent on the candidate having export compliance eligibility for access to U.S. controlled technology which comes under the licensing jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of State, International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the U.S. Department of Commerce, Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

The candidate selected will have to qualify as either a U.S. citizen, a U.S. National, a lawful permanent resident of the U.S., a Person Admitted into the U.S. as an Asylee or Refugee., a National of a country that is not prohibited from having access to U.S. controlled technology (via a letter of assurance), or a Person to be approved for an export license by the governing agency whose technology comes under its jurisdiction.
