Supplier Quality Engineer - Electro- Mechanical Categories

Hypertherm is looking for a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) who is excited about having a direct impact on the success of the Light Industrial Business (LIB).

Hypertherm seeks a SQE who will:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive Supplier Quality Management process to ensure acceptable quality and cost of purchased materials, components and/or services
  • Provide subject matter expertise to other internal functions in the selection, approval, and sustaining of Suppliers/Contract Manufacturers in support of:
    • Supply Chain initiatives (cost reduction, performance improvement)
    • New product introductions
    • Volume manufacturing operations
  • Monitor Supplier/Contract Manufacturer Quality Performance to identify opportunities for improvement and coordinate the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives at suppliers/contract manufacturers
  • Facilitate the deployment of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in response to internal quality issues as well as customer complaints through the coordination of cross-functional teams
Who you are and the experience you will bring:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering preferred) with 3-to-5 years' work experience in Supplier Quality in a development & manufacturing environment
  • Experience with Supplier Quality Management methodologies, including evaluation/approval of new suppliers and part-level qualification through the use of PPAP (Production Parts Approval Plan)
  • Understanding of product technologies and manufacturing processes for Electro-Mechanical categories, such as: Electronic Assemblies/Components, Cables, high precision Machine-to-Print parts, Plastics, Fabricated Metal, Packaging, and Chemicals
  • Working knowledge of Quality Management System standards (ISO9001/ IATF 16949), including associated requirements, such as: Design and Process FMEA, PPAP, and Control Plan
  • Proficient in Quality processes (First Article Inspection, NCM management, MRB facilitation) and problem-solving techniques/tools (SCAR, Global 8D, DMAIC)
  • Experience with descriptive/inferential statistics and statistical tools (capability studies, GD&T, Gage R&R, Statistical Process Control - SPC, Design of Experiments - DOE)
  • Proficiency with Minitab
  • Experience operating in a Lean manufacturing environment and associated techniques/tools (cell manufacturing, standard work, 5S)
  • Presentation and project management skills
  • Ability to oversee several concurrent projects under high pressure
  • Excellent technical communication (written and verbal)
  • People and leadership skills to interface with multiple internal functions and external parties (suppliers, contract manufacturers)
  • Self-driven/motivated with minimum supervision required
Preferred experience that differentiates you:
  • ASQ certification (CSQP, CQE, CQA, CSSBB)
  • Master's Degree in related field
  • Six Sigma Green Belt certification
Location: Lebanon, NH (Relocation assistance is available)

Travel: 20-40% Domestic and International
