General Summary:

This position is responsible for providing on-site craft employee operational leadership in the field including safety, staffing, material application, and equipment utilization.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and exemplify a safety culture that provides for a safe work environment and drives participation at all levels to meet or exceed Granite's Annual Incident Goal
  • Recognize and mitigate potential adverse effects to the environment in relation to operations by adhering to the appropriate environmental policies and procedures
  • Create and/or foster a quality culture that recognizes the effect of quality on all operations, and takes steps necessary to provide a product or service that is a source of pride for our workers and pleasing to our customers
  • Lead functional construction effort to ensure projects are constructed in accordance with design, budget, and schedule
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage resources in order to meet or exceed project objectives
  • Train, cross train, and develop craft employees to learn all aspects of the job and to uphold high quality and customer satisfaction standards
  • Effective partner with all project team members in scheduling and implementing project work plans
  • Interface with all on-site work teams including subcontractors, to resolve problems, ensure quality work, proper scheduling, and safe execution of all work plans

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalency

Work Experience
  • 5+ years of experience managing pavement preservation, or road construction projects at a Foreman level or higher

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Thorough knowledge of all aspects of pavement preservation construction (technology, equipment, methods)
  • Excellent organizational, supervisory, and decision making/problem solving skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills to effectively disseminate information.
  • Ability and commitment to abide by Granite's Code of Conduct

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to operate a computer keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and must have the ability to climb stairs and ladders in a construction/ plant environment. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds from floor to waist. Specific vision abilities required by this job include at least 20/30 Snellen in one eye and 20/50 in the other, with or without corrective lenses. Adequate hearing, with or without a hearing aid. Ability to distinguish colors. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Subject to outside working conditions.
