Job Summary
The Assistant Director of Social Justice Education will lead efforts in the Multicultural Center to promote, educate, and increase awareness around diversity, multiculturalism and social justice concepts and issues. The role is responsible for the oversight and development of co-curricular programs and experiences for IUPUI's increasingly diverse population. The Assistant Director will also work collaboratively with campus and community partners to cultivate educational and advocacy efforts that promote an inclusive campus environment and expand student leadership development.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in education, public affairs, public health, counseling, social work, business, or a related field.

Knowledge of student development, counseling, or career development theories and practices. Knowledge of current needs and trends of diverse student populations. Ability to advise students individually and in groups on student-related matters. Commitment to working with people from diverse backgrounds and demonstrated cultural competency. Ability to build strong partnerships with students and other university departments.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Higher Education, College Student Personnel Administration, or a related field. Experience in student services, higher education, social work, counseling, law, or a related field. Three years full-time experience in a relevant field or area.
Knowledge and experience in developing social justice related workshops, programs, and trainings. Demonstrated understanding of social justice frameworks, student development and leadership theory. Must have a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion with the ability to work with diverse individuals and articulate an intersectional social justice framework. Have administration and organizations skills, the ability to establish priorities and organize resources. Have effective communication skills to include written and verbal interpersonal skills and the ability to participate in negotiation and conflict resolution strategies with students, staff and faculty.
Working Conditions / Demands
This role requires the ability to effectively communicate and to operate a computer and other standard office productivity equipment. The position involves sedentary work as well as periods of time moving around an office environment and the campus. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
