The Graduate Assistant for Student Engagement will report to the Director of Student Engagement and help develop opportunities for student growth, leadership, and involvement on campus. The GA will assist in planning and implementing OEI events such as the Heritage Month Celebrations, IDE Orientation, CFAW, excursions, and workshops.The successful candidate will be committed to improving student engagement at Liberty University. This individual will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively with a diverse range of peers, colleagues, and campus partners. The ideal candidate will help formulate effective and progressive strategies that will bring diverse students and ideas together that would aid in the retention and success of our underrepresented student population.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Management of the office front desk and coffee service

2. Office organization and maintenance

3. Inventory office and event supplies

4. Assessment, evaluation & research for events and programming

5. Gather information and provide summary reports after events

6. Conduct and report on event survey results

7. Provide event support: plan and execute events

8. Event Captain for setup, cleanup, and order of events

9. Manage student workers and CSERs during events

10. Represent LU ONE at various events and tabling

11. Administration assistance and other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for 10+ volunteers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CREDENTIALSMinimum Qualifications
  • LU Graduate Student
  • Available to work 18-20 per week
  • Driver's License required to be an LU-approved driver
  • Flexible Schedule; some weekends and evenings required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong computer, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Ideal applicant will give a minimum of a 1-year commitment to the position

  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally, and in writing to convey clear, well-articulated information.
  • Ability to understand, speak, and write English to convey messages and correspond articulately and professionally.

Problem-Solving

  • Intuitively able to reason, analyze information and events, and apply judgment to solve problems of both a routine and complex nature.
Physical and Sensory Abilities
  • Occasionally required to travel to local and campus locations.
  • Frequently required to sit for extended periods to perform deskwork or type on a keyboard. (If not administrative duties, such as labor, define general physical abilities.
  • Regularly required to hear and speak to communicate orally effectively.
  • Standing, walking, and climbing stairs are occasionally required to move about the building.
  • Handle materials, reach overhead, kneel, or stoop to conduct business.
  • Regularly lift 30 or fewer pounds.
