Student-Athlete Development Coordinator
STATEMENT OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaching and Instruction (40%):

  • Develop content for, teach and coordinate educational activities for student-athlete transition to college course (RST 118) and student-athlete transition out of college course (RST 199)
  • Develop content for and maintain course websites for RST 118 and RST 199
  • Assign grades for individual assignments, maintain gradebook and communicate with students regarding assignments and grades for RST 118 and RST 199
  • Develop content for and teach educational workshops related to Name, Image and Likeness as a part of DIA's INFLUENCE program
  • Assign and teach GAME PLAN educational modules and workshops to student-athletes related to career and personal development

Student-Athlete Development Advising & Counseling: (40%):
  • Advise and counsel caseload of over 150 student-athletes on student-athlete development items including career and major exploration, personal development, community engagement and all areas in preparation for life after sport
  • Communicate with campus faculty, staff and athletic coaches and personnel regarding student-athlete development areas and each individual student-athlete's performance and development

Student Athlete Development Program (20%):
  • Oversee creation and implementation of the marketing plan for Student-Athlete Development to include monthly newsletter, programming menu and outreach opportunities
  • Lead unit's communications initiatives including all student-athlete and coach communication, graphic design and advertising strategy of student-athlete development programming
  • Develop end of semester reporting metrics and graphics to effectively communicate unit's efforts in developing student-athletes
  • Serve as unit's liaison to community members to coordinate outreach and engagement activities for all student-athletes
  • Assist with coordination and supervision the Student Athlete Advisory Committee
  • Oversee implementation of community engagement initiatives for student-athletes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Knowledge of and compliance with specific NCAA, Big Ten Conference, and institution rules that relate to this position is required.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required: Master's degree in education, counseling, sport management or related field

Experience: Required: Experience in student-athlete development programming; demonstrated personal relations skills in working with student-athletes, peers, staff, and administrative personnel Preferred: Experience working directly in an athletic department or academic support unit for student-athletes

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • May work nights and weekends

SALARY

Salary will be commensurate with experience

APPOINTMENT STATUS

100 % time of appointment
