Valid has an outstanding opportunity for a Strategic Sourcing Manager based in our Bolingbrook location.

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will be responsible for leading all commercial aspects between suppliers and Valid for their assigned direct and indirect categories, such as business strategies, establishing goals, cost and performance management, and contract management. The Strategic Sourcing Manager will execute on the strategy through developing new relationships and cultivating existing supplier relationships to meet business requirements and achieve cost, quality and service goals. This position will develop supplier performance criteria, understand the supply markets, and anticipate changes in market conditions, supply capabilities and supply economics. This position will connect with internal business partners to understand the supply chain requirements and develop a roadmap to execute the overall strategy and goals.

What will you do?

  • Lead strategic sourcing functions for assigned categories, including but not limited to execution of sourcing events, leading the evaluation, development and implementation of suppliers in the supply chain.
  • Lead negotiations to obtain the best total value while ensuring all required customer, quality and performance attributes are satisfied.
  • Manage strategic sourcing activities, including but not limited to developing category strategies, conducting category reviews and managing contract implementation and execution.
  • Manage a cost and risk management program which includes price change management, supply capacity analysis and contingency/risk management plans.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders and suppliers to identify and develop a pipeline of cost improvement projects to deliver long term value to the company.
  • Achieve key targets in supply chain and finance, including but not limited to the delivery of annual cost savings targets, achieve supplier service level targets and realize year over year quality target improvements.
  • Provide leadership to fellow strategic sourcing team members through mentoring and training objectives to help achieve company goals.
  • Analyze data or insights (including supply options, market trends and competitors) to determine industry and consumer trends. Conduct assessments of existing products/services to assess the potential for new products and services.
  • Foster trust relationships with vendors to negotiate optimum pricing and quality of services.
  • Define pricing and contractual conditions, negotiate discounts and define terms of payment with suppliers.
  • Secure availability of materials; achieve the required performance targets in terms of cost and delivery time.
  • Set and control savings targets for the relevant categories and track implementation of cost reduction projects; ensure spend and savings reporting.
What are we looking for?
  • 8+ years of experience with strategic sourcing/procurement
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and leading negotiations
  • Proficient in MS Office and database management programs
  • Ability to foresee market trends and stay ahead of the competition

  • Excellent collaborative and team building skills
  • BS/BA in Business Administration, Supply Chain or other related field
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen prior to employment
  • Demonstrated high level experience in strategic sourcing/procurement strongly preferred
