Strategic Sales Proposal Writer

OR, WA, ID and UT

Primary Job Purpose

Strategic Sales Proposal Writer provides writing, message development and conceptualization for proposals, sales messaging, and sales support projects. Prepares proposal content by gathering and formatting information from internal SMEs, writing drafts, facilitating reviews and obtaining approvals. Engages with key stakeholders and subject matter experts from across the organization to develop accurate, complete, and compelling responses.

General Functions and Outcomes

  • Develops the proposal responses and messaging by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs and studying requests for proposal (RFPs).
  • Works with sales executives and other internal stake holders to position solutions with compelling messaging that meets the sales objectives.
  • Ensures quality by using templates, following standards, and maintaining clear and consistent voice in alignment with the Cambia Cause and Values.
  • Contributes to the finalist presentation process by providing messaging and content from the proposal that can be carried over into the presentation.
  • Meets deadlines by establishing priorities and target dates for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; contributes proposal status information to review meetings and project management software.
  • Develops proposal content in a variety of formats, including short answers, executive summaries, and presentations.
  • Reviews content and obtains approval of finished copy by working with sales executives, project managers, and copy editors.
  • Follows and establishes processes, including adherence to legal, regulatory and corporate editorial standards.
  • Presents creative concepts and writing that accurately address proposal objectives that best meet the direction of sales leaders and meets the needs of the customer.
  • Writes additional sales communications as needed, including but not limited to talking points, collateral, articles for internal and external publications, presentations and other sales content.
  • Partners with proposal coordinators, sales teams, product and marketing during proposals and other strategic initiatives.

Minimum Requirements
  • Ability to develop strong working relationships with multiple departments to achieve the strongest possible impact on customers.
  • Ability to operate under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to write in a clear and compelling manner to convey information appropriately for a variety of audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and handle many projects simultaneously -- must be able to meet aggressive deadlines.
  • Experience developing strategic/enterprise proposals.
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Ability to research and distill large, complex content into succinct and meaningful messages.

Normally to be proficient in the competencies listed above:

Strategic Sales and Proposal Writer would have a bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, English, Marketing, or related field and 5 years of experience in communications or copywriting or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The base pay annual salary range for this job is $76,000.00 - $123,000.00.

The bonus target for this position is 10%.
