Staff Clinician

Under the supervision of the Associate Director of the Office of Counseling, Accessibility, Alcohol and Other Drug Services, the Staff Clinician (Professional Services Specialist II) is responsible for the assessment, support and treatment of Kean University students with a specific focus on anxiety, depression, and other mood-related conditions. The Staff Clinician will also provide supervision and support for the counseling center externship program. The Staff Clinician uses established policies, procedures and guidelines as stated by the State of New Jersey and Federal laws and regulations to provide essential support services to the University community. This position may require travel and night and weekend hours on an as-needed basis.

This is not a remote position and requires physical presence on campus as determined by the Supervisor. It requires working on campus during the COVID-19 pandemic and interacting directly with students following all procedures and protocols set forth in the University's Restart Plan and any procedures/protocols created through additional correspondence. The employee must have the ability to wear a face covering for the duration of the workday during the COVID pandemic or as determined by university protocol.

Qualifications: Doctoral degree in Psychology, Counseling or a related field; license or eligibility for licensure in the State of New Jersey in a mental health field; and a minimum of one year of clinical experience including work with high-risk patients, as well as with complex and/or longstanding clinical problems is required. Familiarity with developmental issues of college students and demonstrated sensitivity and skill in working with a diverse student, staff and faculty population is also required. Experience working with university students; interest in providing education and training to clinical staff on clinical issues; and the ability to provide supervision to training staff and externs is preferred.
