WSFS Bank is currently seeking an experienced Staff Auditor. The Staff Auditor will conduct and assist in reviews of assigned areas (Financial/Operational and Regulatory compliance reviews). The incumbent will evaluate the adequacy and effectiveness of internal accounting and operating controls and assist in conducting examinations of assigned organizational and functional activities within budgeted time frames and in accordance with departmental standards. The incumbent will assist in the performance of Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 control testing which consists of the following activities: documentation and preparation of the Process Control Work Flows within each area, conducting annual “walkthroughs” of each Process Control Work Flow activity, testing of the individual internal control processes, and classifying noted deficiencies.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Conducts or assists in performing examinations of assigned organizational and functional activities within budgeted time frames and in accordance with departmental standards as stated in the Audit Manual.
  • Performs audit work, including plan preparation, workpapers, finding, and associated reports that reflect the audit results.
  • Reports or assists in reporting audit findings to Management by means of both oral communications and formal written reports.
  • Appraises or assists in appraising the adequacy of corrective action taken to improve deficient conditions.
  • Assists with the Independent Public Accounting firm's annual audit of the Corporation.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the business units and with external auditors.
  • Assists in the performance of Sarbanes-Oxley 404 testing to maintain internal controls to ensure the identification of significant accounts, processes, assertions and risks, the identification and evaluation of the control design, the performance of tests and controls and the overall assessment of financial reporting and internal controls.
  • Keeps abreast of Company policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state, and federal laws, as applicable.
  • Effectively manages time to achieve annual goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to meet business needs.

This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm position, located at our Bank Center in Wilmington, DE or Bank Place in Philadelphia, PA.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field, and at least 2-3 years of experience directly related to the job responsibilities.
  • Must have a minimum of 2- 3 years of experience of internal or external financial/operational auditing, and a general knowledge of banking laws and regulations.
  • Preferably, will have achieved a Professional Certification, such as CIA, CPA, CBA, CFSA, etc.
  • Must have a general understanding of accounting and control procedures, methods, and philosophies in a banking environment.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must have basic knowledge of federal banking laws and regulations.
  • Must have a understanding of the COSO framework, as well as an understanding of public companies reporting requirements under Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002.
  • Must have the demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast-paced audit environment.
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described below must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
  • Incumbent will be required to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Incumbent may be required to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  • Dexterity is mandatory as this job requires frequent use of hands and fingers.
  • The incumbent will be required to walk, reach with hands and arms, push items overhead, occasionally climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • The incumbent will also be required to talk, hear, see, read and write.
  • This position requires regular lifting and moving of 10-25 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Incumbent must also have the ability to count accurately and the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide and record, balance and check results for accuracy.
