Who We Are:

As the Commercial Vehicle R&D team we provide design, development, and analysis on components, engines, powertrains, and vehicles. We support research, modeling and demonstrations for combustion, emissions, and powertrain energy management for vehicles and off-road machines. By joining our team, you will receive an additional $500 of your first paycheck, minus applicable taxes.

Objectives of this Role:

  • Support engine, aftertreatment and electrified powertrain testing by providing mechanical support, engine assembly, light fabrication, and troubleshooting of engine and powertrain systems.
  • Support the engineering team by providing wiring, assembly, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
  • Participate in on-the-job training and assist technical staff with engine installations, basic fabrication tasks, engine modifications, test cell modifications, test cell instrumentation calibrations and test cell operations.
  • Projects involve research, development and evaluation of products intended to reduce emissions and/or improve fuel economy.
Daily and Monthly Responsibilities:
  • Support the installation and operation of conventional powertrain test stands; these include engines, transmissions, dynamometers and other components.
  • Support the installation and operation of electrified powertrain test stands; these include motors, inverters, batteries and other vehicle components.
  • Demonstrate basic understanding of engines and mechanical systems. Support the instrumentation of vehicles and powertrains.
  • Perform maintenance on and modifications to gasoline, diesel and natural gas engines, as well as building and test cell support systems.
  • Work productively and effectively in a team or as individual contributor.
  • Perform all tasks in a safe and efficient manner and be available to work shift work and overtime when needed.
Requirements:
  • Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Shift work required.
  • 2+ years: Automotive/mechanical experience obtained from either high school, vocational training or hands on engine/mechanical repair work.
  • ASE certifications, or continuing education preferred.
  • Mechanical support and diagnostics for engines, vehicles or off-road equipment.
  • Welding and fabrication experience/knowledge or ability to be trained on.
  • A valid/clear driver's license is required.
