The primary purpose of this position is to drive improvement in Legacy product performance through a collaborative engagement with suppliers, customer, internal departments, and other stakeholders.

Job Components:

• Foster strong relationships and knowledge sharing with Interstate Batteries' supplier - partners
• Drive resolution to customer quality problems using the Supplier Corrective Action Request (SCAR), following the 8D problem solving process
• Lead supplier continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to reduce SCARs and product defects
• Develop and maintain a Supplier Surveillance process to ensure product quality meets company's standards, including an incoming inspection process in partnership with a 3PL
• Manage supplier changes using the Product and Process Change Request processes
• Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and effectively implement supplier scorecards
• Maintain Quality operations by, but not limited to developing standard work, policies, procedures and auditing systems
• Engage with suppliers to assess process capability, pre- and post-award, process assessment and Production Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
• Lead supplier Quality System audits to support the evaluation, selection, approval, and monitoring of suppliers/manufacturing partners.
• Participate and support departmental and organizational based continuous improvement activities.
• Serve as subject matter expert for supplier qualification and surveillance, share expertise within the business unit and cross functionally
• Conduct supplier audits as required

Qualifications:

• College degree in a technical field
• Minimum of 5 years of relevant quality experience required
• Fundamental understanding or prior working experience within a Quality Management Systems, such as ISO:9001-2015 and/or ISO:14001-2015
• Must have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Green Belt certification preferred
• ASQ/ISO certification preferred
• Ability to prioritize competing requirements
• Advanced Excel and Access skills preferred
• MiniTab preferred
• Must be able to work effectively in a team environment

Scope Data:

• Interacts with various levels within SCM, Marketing, Operations, Vendors, and customers
• Analyze and communicate cross-functionally field Quality issues

Work Environment:

• Up to 25% travel within North America
• Hybrid work environment (Office / WFH)
• Operates a computer for data entry and information retrieval
• Frequently moves equipment and packages up to 75 lbs
• Able to remain in a stationary position more than 50% of the time
• Able to move or traverse in an office environment to access supplies and equipment
• Regular attendance is required
