General Summary

The Quality and Patient Experience (QPE) department delivers on the Mass General Brigham (MGB) Board's vision to advance a culture of treating patients with dignity, respect and equity; within our institutions and in the communities we serve; promote a reliable, consistent, and coordinated care experience across institutions; and achieve the best clinical outcomes possible. Reporting to the Program Director for Specialty Programs and Clinical Collaboration, the Senior Project Manager will provide project management support to several enterprise-wide specialty collaboration committees and their associated initiatives, focusing on quality and efficiency of care. This position requires strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills, excellent interpersonal skills, professional maturity and strong analytic ability. The position requires collaboration with other teams within QPE and other departments within the Mass General Brigham Enterprise (i.e. eCare, entity specific specialty departments, and Data and Analytics). This role may also provide management for 1-3 staff.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • In partnership with the chairs of each committee and the team's Sr. Medical Director, support the launch and direct management of approximately 4 committees and workgroups that support Mass General Brigham's goals for improved patient care and efficiency. This includes annual goal setting, guideline development, and development and adoption of system-wide policies of care.
  • Support the Directors and Committee Chairs in identifying and leveraging tools to successfully support the data capture of preferred clinical workflows based on guidelines, including the leveraging of the EHR.
  • With the Medical Director, coordinate and disseminate information across committees, connecting activities amongst the committees as well as connecting these groups to other Mass General Brigham efforts and groups/committees.
  • Work with senior clinicians and administrators to build consensus, within and amongst committees, on clinical guidelines, EHR build, data analyses, committee goals, committee priorities, etc.
  • Support enterprise collaboration with strong project management, analytics, guidance for junior staff members reporting to him/her in the execution of their clinical collaboration work.
  • Guide the analysis of clinical/financial patient data to support committee and programmatic work
  • Establish contacts and strong working relationships with clinical leaders, network leaders and leaders of quality departments at each site and other departments within Mass General Brigham.
  • Manage external registry contracts as needed for Mass General Brigham committees
  • Ensure that deliverables stay on target to be completed in projected timeline, and identify and overcome any obstacles or threats to that goal

  • Other duties as assigned
  • This position is currently remote. In the future, some onsite work will be required.
  • Evening/early AM committee meetings as scheduled
  • This role is an individual contributor but in the future may manage a staff of 1-3


Qualifications
Qualifications
  • BS/BA or equivalent required
  • Master's degree in Business, Health Management, Public Health, or Public Policy preferred
  • 8+ years' experience in health care, preferably in a provider setting
  • Experience in clinical project management, consulting, or clinical/financial data analysis preferred
  • Experience in health care quality measurement, reporting, and improvement preferred
  • Experience using and synthesizing clinical and claims data preferred. Experience working with ICD-9 codes, ICD-10 codes, DRGs, MS-DRGs, APR-DRGs, CPT codes a plus.
  • A combination of education and experience may be substituted for requirements
Skills/ Competencies
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with a broad array of people from diverse backgrounds and various levels of the management hierarchy. Demonstrated ability to effectively work with clinical staff a plus.
  • Ability to think about strategic problems, generate and present options, and facilitate consensus and decision-making among constituent clinical groups and executive leadership. Ability to set priorities, coordinate multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytic skills; ability to turn data into information
  • Fluency in data analysis and data manipulation
  • Proficiency in statistical relationships and concepts
  • Fluency in PC /Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Strong analytic communication skills including preparing cogent, appealing PowerPoint slides and presenting to clinical and administrative audiences.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks and projects, meet deadlines and manage to schedule.
  • Influencing skills to engage clinicians and other leaders
  • Ability to effectively present ideas and information in a variety of formats to a wide range of audiences
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Solid understanding of the health care environment
