The Role:
Moderna is seeking a Senior Director to join our Oncology Development organization. You will build a team with strong translational bioinformatics capability to support our mission in delivering mRNA-based therapeutics to cancer patients. You will provide scientific, technical, strategic, and managerial leadership to the growing translational and clinical oncology. You will also work collaboratively with other computational groups across the Moderna research ecosystem to bridge clinical and basic research,

Here's What You'll Do:

  • Build and lead a team to develop the translational bioinformatics strategy and set priorities
  • Lead the development, deployment, and application of novel algorithms, analyses, and pipelines with translational impact for personalized cancer vaccine program
  • Perform and supervise the analysis, visualization and interpretation of large, complex datasets from oncology clinical trials, especially modern NGS platforms
  • Partner with clinical team to develop biomarker testing strategies, collaborate on genomic biomarker identification, and communicate findings to internal and external stakeholders
  • Integrate different data modalities with clinical observations, and use novel analytical approaches to distill biomarker insights and mechanistic understanding
  • Author and review translational research sections in regulatory documents and scientific publications
  • Establish collaborations and maintain strong partnership with external scientific community and KOLs

Here's What You'll Bring to the Table:
  • PhD in a scientific field, minimum 10 years' experience in a pharmaceutical, biotech, or research organization with direct experience in the field of computational biology and/or bioinformatics.
  • Knowledge of immuno-oncology, clinical and translational science
  • Experience leveraging data from large-scale, open repositories in immune-oncology field and integrating datasets to mine for deeper insights
  • Fluency in Python and R, including packages in the scientific computing stack
  • Experience with software development, including version control, unit and integration testing, documentation, and deployment
  • Experience with high performance computing and cloud computing platforms
  • Track record of productivity and innovation as evidenced by patents and/or publications
  • Outstanding communication skills, especially of conclusions drawn from large, complex datasets
  • Ability to effectively collaborate in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
