Aurora University seeks talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and learning. As a private institution, Aurora University expects faculty to be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrollment initiatives, and other activities related to the college experience. To facilitate this highly interactive faculty/student relationship, the typical teaching load is three 4 credit-hour courses per semester. Student advising is supported by professional staff. Undergraduate faculty share in the delivery of the general education program, most often by teaching within the university's interdisciplinary core. Evidence of successful teaching, or a strong potential for successful teaching, is required for all positions. Experience teaching at a smaller, private institution is highly preferred.

Position Purpose: Aurora University's College of Health and Sciences invites applications in the area of Speech Language Pathology. The candidate is expected to oversee the Pre-Speech Language Pathology undergraduate program and serve as the chair of the program. The candidate will teach multiple courses from the curriculum of the newly launched Speech Language Pathology pre-professional track and will also explore the feasibility of a graduate program. This position is a 9-month academic appointment with the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon need and availability of funds, beginning fall of 2024.

Essential Job Functions:

The successful applicants will be required to teach; mentor students; participate in all aspects of the department's activities; serve the university; and engage in professional development activities. The successful application will also provide leadership to the undergraduate program and will begin the process for developing and launching a graduate Speech Language Pathology program.

This faculty position will be appointed in the School of Health Sciences and will report to the Dean of the College of Health and Sciences. Applicants should have demonstrated teaching experience in Speech Language Pathology. Applicants should be able to demonstrate a highly inclusive learning environment, centered on student learning. We will value applicants who have the motivation to grow the program, provide expertise in recruitment, and maintain local partnerships with graduate programs. Applicants should also be familiar with ASHA and CAA accreditation. Faculty typically teach three courses per term, and have opportunities for service and professional growth and development.

Essential Job Requirements:

Education: Applicants should hold a doctorate in speech-language pathology, speech-language and hearing sciences, communication sciences and disorders or a related discipline (PhD strongly preferred). Candidates in "all but dissertation" status will be considered. Certification in Speech-Language Pathology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA CCC-SLP) is preferred.Experience: Industry experience, leadership experience, accreditation experience, recruitment experience, and teaching experience preferred.Skills: Demonstrate commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Demonstrated effective written, oral communication, and/or presentation skills. Commitment to staying current in the field. Mentoring undergraduate students.Physical Requirements: Ability to interact with individuals, either in person or via technology. Ability to be physically present in class and during office hours.
