The University of Miami/UHealth Pharmacy Department has an exciting opportunity for a Specialty Pharmacy Technician.
SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the pharmacist, the Specialty Pharmacy technician assists the pharmacist in pharmacy tasks related to outpatient ambulatory care medication/specialty medication management. The pharmacy technician will work as a part of a multidisciplinary team to triage specialty pharmacy prescriptions for University of Miami patients to appropriate pharmacies and other clinical and pharmacy initiatives to streamline continuity of care and increase compliance
JOB FUNCTIONS
Work as a multidisciplinary team member to triage specialty medication prescriptions as mandated by patients' PBM to ensure continuity of care for patients for management of chronic disease states work and communicate with physicians, mid-level providers, case managers and social workers at a vast number of University of Miami clinics to ensure timely initiation of treatment prescribed by providers for ambulatory care use across the health system Communicate all pertinent information to patients and providers as necessary in a timely manner and document such encounters Keep accurate and timely records of all tasks, including but not limited to prescriptions, and authorizations Must be a self-starter with ability to prioritize tasks and organize time to meet priorities in a timely manner Provides routine reports to pharmacy management team on project progress Perform other pharmacy and administrative tasks as necessary
