The Lone Star College-Transportation & Global Logistics Technology Center is a brand-new, 16,000 square foot state-of-the-art training facility where students learn the skills necessary to become a professional truck driver.

The LSC Professional Truck Driver Fast Track Certification program includes instruction on pre-trip inspection, basic control skills, backing and city street/highway driving. This course satisfies the requirements set by the Texas Department of Public Safety.

LSC is also an approved Commercial Driver License Third Party Testing facility. Texas DPS Testing Centers have a three to four week waiting list to for a student to take the test. Once a student successfully completes their LSC CDL training, they can immediately get scheduled to complete the Skills Test.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Specialist IV, Center assists with managing general operations of a large instructional support division or department. Responsible for coordination of support functions such as scheduling, maintenance, communications, equipment, workflows, supplies, information processing, and staff support. Responsible for providing academic and/or departmental support by coordinating office activities to achieve optimum utilization of equipment and employee productivity

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  1. Submits new courses and course modification paperwork through the OAA KUALI process
  2. Builds and maintains course schedules in iStar to include course titles, days, times, locations and instructors (cancels classes as necessary
  3. As needed, assisting students on the program options at the TGLTC, as well as disseminating information to students about all the services that are available on campus
  4. Answers phone calls and emails
  5. Provides administrative support to the department, including but not limited to composing correspondence from verbal direction or from knowledge of the organization, retrieves, compiles, and disseminates a variety of reports, correspondence, agendas, or management information in support of department
  6. Remaining active in planning, analysis and revision of department schedules and calendars, arranging meetings, and maintaining department documentation and files
  7. Responsible for monitoring student instructional plans, entering student grades, and graduating students
  8. Creates flyers, job aides, maps, room notices, etc. to properly inform and best assist students
  9. Assists with the preparation of recruiting events including catalogs/flyers, handout goodies, stands, etc., and attends events to inform the community of LSC programs
  10. Manages office supplies; Includes tracking supply usage, maintaining appropriate levels of supplies, preparing and processing requisitions, verifying receipt and distribution of supplies, and submitting documentation for appropriate payment of requisitions
  11. Responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new software
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize well
  • Ability to work on multiple projects
  • Ability to document expenses
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is primarily sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS:

  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    High school diploma or GED and at least 5 years of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Associate's degreeTraining in office administration
Salary

Hiring salary range is $36,057-$41,466

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
