While our DevOps engineers are involved in multiple things throughout the Technology organization, primarily they are responsible for working with the Technology teams to design, build, and implement amazing environmental automation. Love thinking about infrastructure as code? Get jazzed about automation? Want to get deep in the weeds with the latest mix of on-premise and cloud automation technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, Looker, load balancers, and firewalls? Want to help us as we move Waystar toward containerized deployments? Come join our DevOps team, where you will help in these areas, while troubleshooting and resolving technical issues on tools that help your fellow Engineers be more efficient.

What you'll be doing:

  • Participation in systems design and architecture for ourinternal automation platform
  • Performance analysis and tuning, specifically ina.NET/MSSQL environment
  • Development and support of tools and APIs that enable automated deployments, load balancer configuration, and containerization

  • Automation of systems management tasks
  • Automation of system and application monitoring and alerting
  • Operationalization ofnew technologies introduced into the environment
  • Develops and maintains open and fluid communication with Management
  • Develops and maintains a positive relationshipwith other team members

  • Assists in the creation and/or approving of technical specifications
  • Assists in identifying areas in the application that need to be refactored
  • Works with the various departments and team members to design and/or implement various new enhancements to the existing applications.This includes, but is not limitedto, SQL table design, SQL stored procedure design, and process design in the designated programming language
  • Tracks any changes required by such development using internal tools, and communicates to the QA Team any abnormalities required to push the changes from development through the various stages to production
  • Identifies and informs theManager, Application Engineeringof areas of the applicationthat can be improved by refactoring, optimization, or other improved technology solutions

  • Notifies theManager, Application Engineeringof any problems that negatively impact applications, and works to implement a solution
  • Communicates and works with theManager, Application Engineeringto reassign any items that cannot be addressed in a timely fashion
  • Provides estimates for project tasks using an internal project tool, and updates the estimates if they increase or decrease
  • Provides support toWaystarengineers and product releases
  • Additional duties as assigned

  • Experience building highly-scalable software solutionsusing C# /.Netand MS SQL

  • Bachelorsdegree in related field or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to demonstrate creative thinking, advanced problem-solving,and troubleshootingskills
  • Eager to learn new technologiesand totake personal responsibility&ownership for technical projects

  • N-Tierand SaaS development experience isa plus
  • Understanding of TCP/IP networking and Internet protocolsis a plus
  • Experience with containerization (Kubernetes/Docker/Rancher) isa plus

  • Familiaritywithload balancers, firewalls,Windowsand Linuxservers, and/or SAN storageis a plus
  • Experience with Azure DevOps is a plus
