- You will advise software developers and will approve the software being developed and deployed in their domain.
- Full lifecycle System development using standard design patterns/frameworks.
- You will experience designing software or solution architecture in accordance with GM standards and industry standard methodologies

- You will be required to have broad software project delivery experience in leading technical efforts developing applications using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks and technologies
- Demonstrate mastery of numerous programming languages, tools and/or technologies
- Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement, automation technologies
- Proactively engage in the identification / remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues
- Design Integration Solutions or Integrate software with existing software/systems
- Automates unit/end-to-end testing of software systems within their domain, focused on software quality and maintainability
- Experienced knowledge of maintaining and debugging live software systems. Proactively engage in the remediation of software issues related to code or solutions quality, security, and/or pattern/frameworks and software usability or end user related issues
- Provides technical guidance and mentoring of fellow software developers and other team members
- Possess technical writing knowledge around system design specification and user documentation of software systems and ensure compliance
- Understand and maintain compliance with GM standard methodology
- Provides mentorship, coaching and/or training to others as appropriate. Holds themselves and others accountable for demonstrating GMs values and cultural behaviors. Models GM behaviors and crafts a winning culture.

About the role

As a Solutions Architecture, you will be responsible for providing application & technical roadmap direction as well as development of software in the form of framework, platform, and proof of concept that will become the foundational components. You will ensure that solutions are architected, designed, and developed using sound software development principles and in accordance with GM's software development standards, project methodology; including but not limited to code quality, performance, stability, and security. You must have broad interests and understanding of relevant and new technology. Be able to evaluate, recommend, and promote right technology and technical solution which is future prove. Collaborate with a group of highly capable architects and actively engaged in technical discussions and debates with well formulated facts, reasoning, and architecture principles.

You will be expected to be familiar and proficient with each of the following capabilities:

  • Drive innovation and ensure the best applicable and fitting technology and architectures are used across the teams
  • Ability to work in a cross functional team environment
  • Ability to effectively communicate, influence and facilitate adoption of architecture solution across cross functional teams
  • Take leadership responsibility in driving architecture roadmap for
  • Take leadership responsibility in end-to-end solution architecture for large scale and cutting-edge manufacturing simulation and communication projects/applications
  • Drive technology standards and adoption of cutting-edge technologies
  • Be able to straddle strategic responsibilities with tactical execution
  • Quickly design, develop, and deliver new code
  • Estimate and design work that is just-in-time and sized in small increments
  • Perform root cause analysis, do technology evaluations, and develop quick prototypes
  • Commit to completing well-defined, secure, and elegant work and deliver on their commitments
  • Report status of assigned software development and/or maintenance tasks
  • Consistently follow the specified software development methodology
  • Promote improvements in programming practices such as acceptance test driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery
  • Prospective team members must possess a high degree of business insight, creativity, decision making skills, a drive for results, the ability to negotiate, the ability to develop strong peer relationships, and a strong technical learning capability and focus.

Additional Job Description

Requirements for the role:

  • Must have at least 10 years of architecture experience and be comfortable leading highly technical team through the software development lifecycle (SDLC) utilizing industry standard/best practice for software development approaches
  • Must have IT systems design and development experience
  • Must have keen interests in new technology and technology trends
  • Must have in-depth knowledge using a variety of tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies.
  • Ability to analyzing complex issues and provide executable plan for complex tasks including Performance tuning, usability assessment/improvement, applying automation technologies
  • Understands security risks for applications and code remediation techniques
  • Oversees Integration efforts of software or solutions with existing software/systems
  • Understands code quality analysis results and remediation mechanisms
  • Providing advice, technical support, and mentorship for various projects within their domain
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Possess technical writing knowledge around system design specification and technical documentation of software systems
  • Provide mentorship to junior architects and developers.
  • Experience in manufacturing or supply chain is required.
  • Experience in implementing CI/CD based culture is critical.
  • Experience working with plant floor devices and communications
  • 10+ years of Java, C/C++, Python and/or .Net development experience
  • Experience in IIoT domain and implementations
  • Experience working with cloud platforms, K8 preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Strong experience in designing and building modern UX a plus
  • Experience with Pulsar or Kafka is a plus
  • Experience with PLC/devices, Kepware, Cimplicity with OPCUA and other technologies a plus
  • Experience in Industrial IT systems and exposure to manufacturing and shop floor systems is a plus
  • Knowledgeable in ISA-95 standards and terminologies a plus
  • Experience in an MES architectural transformation is a plus
