Embedded Software Test Leader

Lead product software testing

Are you looking to put your product testing and leadership experience to work, shaping how software is validated? The controls software development team at HYG in Portland is growing, and with that growth is a need to scale up our software testing activities.

Hyster-Yale Group is looking for a talented product software testing professional, with a desire to work closely with our development teams in the Portland, Oregon area. This global development center designs materials handling solutions for an ever-changing marketplace, focusing primarily on 1-8 ton fork trucks.

Our vision for this new role is a person who will take ownership of our product verification activities, using a data-driven approach to improve test effectiveness. This person will lead a small team of testers performing manual on- truck testing, and help drive development of automated testing solutions to catch defects earlier in the process. The Software Test Leader will work in coordination with development team leaders and the software QA Leader to assure we deliver software to the truck validation team, hitting quality and delivery targets.

Minimum Qualifications:

B.S. in an engineering discipline

2 years of experience in a product test role

2 years of experience in a leadership role

Experience testing electronic equipment

Exposure to industry standard validation and verification methods

Ability and willingness to operate a fork truck to debug software

Preferred Qualifications:

Coursework or experience with electrical engineering

Familiar with configuration management systems

Familiar with issue tracking systems

Experience with a CMMI Level 2 organization, or similar

This is a hybrid work/home role, with a minimum of 3 days per week in our Fairview, OR office.
