What We Are Looking For

The Software/Firmware Test Engineer will primarily define tests, build and maintain test capabilities for embedded systems, electro-mechanical and software-based products, as well as execute tests. They will be a part of new product development from the ground floor and will have the opportunity to work closely with developers as well as product management to manage requirements. They will also assist application and support engineering on more complex customer queries and/or opportunities.

What You Will Do
  • Develop test methods, test plans, fixtures, test equipment proposals, and automations
  • Support firmware/software tests from the outset of all new product development projects including development testing, release testing, and compliance testing
  • Create reusable test methods to allow for optimized testing of new releases and fast spin-up of new testing capabilities
  • Ensure testable and accurate requirements by partnering with product management
  • Discover requirements gaps, clarifications, and update requirements to ensure engineering and product management are aligned and a testable development path is defined
  • Support the testing/compliance leads in ensuring compliance requirements are being met and coordinate with third party testing services where applicable
  • Support the lead development engineer in charge of applications and customer support for Tier 3 (issues requiring engineering expertise)
  • Assist with training Tier 1 and 2 support personnel, developing troubleshooting procedures, documentation, and product applications support
  • Support the development and deployment process by assisting with dev ops
  • Perform support and maintenance of version control, issue tracking, test, and build systems
  • Build in upgrades, automations, or any other improvements
What You Will Bring
  • Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Software/Computer/Electrical Engineering
  • New/Upcoming Graduate or 2 years' experience in development or test of products with a significant firmware component
  • Direct experience in testing or developing firmware/software solutions with some embedded component
  • Hands on experience with at least one embedded platform (Linux based, freeRTOS, bare metal, etc.)
  • Ability to develop manual/automated test systems for firmware/software products
  • High level of organization, attention to detail, and the ability to work within the compliance-based process for a safety rated product or equivalent
  • Ability to troubleshoot windows applications and/or become highly skilled at troubleshooting issues with permissions, drivers, and general installation/functionality of a windows application
  • Have a strong desire and determination to become the subject matter expert relating to all aspects of testing firmware/software for new product development
