Job Description Summary:
The paypal.com team is accountable for the performance of the website globally, and working with our sales, marketing and product partners we aim to produce top-quality experiences for prospects and our customers, regardless of where they are or what they come to the site to do.

The team is formed as a product portfolio team, with the aim of building a high- performing, durable structure. This will enable us, and any future incarnations of the team, to manage the experience and maximize value for our customers, the company and shareholders for some time to come.

We are looking at prospects and customers firstly through a segment lens. Consequently, we have Product Manager roles that align to those segments - Consumer, Small Business (including Partners) and Enterprise, Platforms & Marketplaces. Each Product Manager is accountable for customer and business outcomes in their area, and for identifying and executing a program of work that will drive those outcomes. We also have a Platform Product Manager, who is accountable for providing our engineering partners with business requirements for platform development, as well as driving horizontal efforts that affect all segments (eg: Globalization strategy, Platform strategy, Site Performance improvements, etc.) .In addition, we have an SEO Product Manager, a web lead for our International Markets, and an Integration and Strategic Development PM. The SEO role is accountable for setting our SEO strategy, then working with our engineering and content partners to ensure it is executed to plan, with a view to maximizing the opportunities in natural search. The web lead for International is responsible for scaling our approach to all non-US markets, and the Integration & Strategic Development PM will oversee all site integrations (usually following M&A activities) as well as other strategic projects.

The Consumer Experience team is focused on creating the best experience for our users. From the unique experience of navigating the PayPal website, to the finely-crafted details of our many payment products, the Consumer Experience team oversees all aspects of PayPal's user experience. This team looks to perfect customer experience around accepting payments, navigating chargebacks & refunds, and finding the best PayPal solution for everyone's needs.

Job Description:

Your way to impact:

As a Full Stack Engineer on the Consumer Experience Team, you will be responsible for building and refining PayPal's customer-facing applications and services that directly impact the customer. Primarily, this team is focused on building up the PayPal.com website, which consists of over 20,000 pages of content, and receives millions of web page views per hour across the globe. By perfecting our website, you will directly improve the top of the funnel of our business and help PayPal win new customers everyday.

Your day-to-day:

  • Lead and participate in producing deliverables to high quality standards
  • Architect, design, and develop scalable, resilient web applications- as well as reusable web components, frameworks, common libraries and restful services
  • Work closely with Product Management, User Experience Design, Analytics and other cross functional & vertical development teams to meet business requirements.
  • Take ownership of the solution from end to end and be responsible for translating functional requirements into a web solution
  • Enforce sound development practices and ensure the quality delivery of solutions including, but not limited to, technical design and code reviews.
  • Act as a technical advisor to application development teams to plan, implement, and support new and existing web applications.
  • Develop and communicate technical processes, standards, and best practices

What you need to bring:
  • B.S. or equivalent degree in Computer Science, at least 8 years of web application development experience, & at least 10 years of overall software development experience
  • Experience in architecting, designing, implementing, and maintain high performance, high availability, large-scale web applications
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills & the ability to produce clear and concise documentation
  • Proficiency in client & server-side JavaScript, HTML5, CSS3, React.js, Redux and webpack
  • Competence in developing &Node.js applications and building single page web applications using React.js and Redux
  • Experience with SEO, RESTful APIs, page optimizations, CDN, content management systems, Git, and CI/CD; exposure to Graph QL is a plus
  • Excellent time management skills, ability to collaborate in cross-functional groups, and the ability to work in an agile product development environment
