Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role-
•Assist with ensuring efficient cross-team (including cross-organization) technical collaboration as it relates to large initiatives
•Hands on technical guidance in design, development, delivery including incident resolution and writing code for important spikes which drive key architectural decisions
•Set and Steer architecture direction by working with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and anchors to define high level architecture approach for an initiative. Responsible for overall technical direction
•Help choose the right technologies and keep pushing the architecture forward
•Engineering Practices: Lead by example with strong engineering practices, coach TLs to adhere to practices, help team(s) define practices

Meet our team
The Braintree Post Processing group is responsible for what happens to a transaction after it is authorized and settled. That means we own calculating fees, managing charge-disputes lifecycles, and moving money into merchants' accounts. This group covers pricing & fee calculation as well as Disputes lifecycle management. We are widely distributed, mostly remote. We practice (remote) pair programming, TDD, and we value a strong software engineering best practices.

Job Description:

Your day to day:

• Ruby on Rails development for account updater feature requirements.
• Trouble shoot customer communicated issues with account updater.
• Develop efficient, elegant, clean code with no unnecessary complication or abstraction
• Discuss and design complex Data structures & Algorithm concepts.
• Database design, programming, tuning and query optimization.
• Collaborating with product managers using agile methodologies to deliver high quality solutions on time
• Work on postgresql and tools like splunk and datadog for monitoring
• Participate and contribute to team brainstorming and planning sessions.

What you need to bring:

• 3+ years' experience building web applications with object oriented or functional programming languages.
• Strong teamwork, collaboration, verbal, and written communication, along with demonstrated creativity and problem-solving capabilities.
• Interest in TDD and specific experiences using a test heavy approach to solve problems and create solutions.
• Focus on building solutions utilizing an agile approach: close relationships with Product Managers and Technical leads, communicating and digesting real time feedback, and working smart to build story cards on daily basis
• Familiarity with software configuration management principles and tools, source code version control (e.g., git/GitHub) and issue/bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA).
• Ability to research and execute solutions based on online guides and tutorials
• Technical aptitude and the ability to problem solve.
• Experience with payment systems and processor API's.

Nice to Have:

• Experience developing analytics and/or search-based applications
• Large-scale application performance optimization experience
• Experience with Ruby On Rails, PostgreSQL.
• Understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances
• Experience with front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery
• Proficient understanding of external APIs
• Deploying apps to k8s
• Microservice/Monolith application developmen
