Software Development Engineer - Seattle, WA

One of The Select Group's top clients is looking for a Software Development Engineer to support data pipeline development for new features. It is a long-term, hybrid contract opportunity in Seattle, WA. We are also only able to work W2 for this role with the client.

TOP SKILLS

  • Software Development Engineer who has developed deeply technical systems on the backend.
  • Must have a firm foundation of data structures.
  • Must have experience working with large complex code bases.
  • Experience with data processing and streaming processing.

  • Experience debugging systems end-to-end.
  • Experience with multiple programming languages. Examples: Go, C++, Clojure, Java, Python, Scala, etc.
  • Experience working in an organization with a high standard of code.
  • Strong communication skills and extremely independent
  • Experience with or open to learning Scala and Spark.
  • Extremely strong technical acumen, and a natural/intellectual curiosity.


  • NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience with functional languages
  • Experience with Spark and/or Scala
  • Experience with Cassandra


  • DAY TO DAY:

  • 30%: investigating and debugging systems (Scala, Clojure) - deep investigations
  • 30%: designing - writing design reviews, preparing for design reviews, and reviewing others' work
  • 20%: implementing new code (writing code from scratch)
  • 10%: Meetings, standups, etc.
